the best place to buy any westerns is amazon.de in germany
Chato's land was filmed in 2 versions
US version where the indian girl was wrapped in a blanket for the "sex" scenes.
EURO version where the indian girl was totally naked.

avoid the UK version as the horse trips have been hacked out.

It's exactly the same as the UK version but with the horse trips left in
1.85:1 as good as can be expected for the year of filming.

I've got the US version - I noticed the nudity was missing
Not exactly saying I miss it, but I don't like cuts

I've got the French R2 version of Chato which is uncut.
The German version will probably be cheaper though.

The R2 DVDs are anamorphic as well, unlike the R1

Same here. I cannot imagine who they thought would want a PG version of a violent Bronson movie on DVD................... except mugs like me who didn't bother to check up on it and believes USA means uncut whilst UK means cut. Which I suppose is true as far as horsefalls are concerned. Regarding the French and German versions................ are they subtitled on the English track and is one more 'uncut' than the other?

Not so much a Bronson movie but a support.. Guns for San Sebastian (1967) is good viewing. No DVD release, TCM channel tend to show it now and again.
Bronson plays Telco a cynical mexican indian halfbreed. Plays second to Anthony Quinn (Rebel Soldier mascarading as a Christian Priest) but Charles still steals the scenes hes in. A western of sorts, but set in 1750 Spanish conquest of Mexico. Its the villagers / crops / bandits / taking up arms situation from Seven Samurai/Mag Seven.
.
French director(Henri Verneuil) & money, made in Mexico. But has very epic, euro-western feel. Fantastic Ennio Morricone soundtrack makes this film feel alot more important than it might be.

I wasn't hugely impressed with this film, but I would say its definitly a two man show with Quinn and Bronson, so well worth tracking down.
But its fairly dull, and a bit of a typical muddy Euro-pudding.

But hey - its Bronson!

Death Hunt is awesome. As is Red Sun which I picked up recently.

Also really enjoyed Breakheart Pass when I picked it up a couple of weeks ago.

Got The Mechanic for five quid off of Play; a very good Bronson outing with Charlie [and Winner! ] on top form.
Does anyone know what was cut from the previous video version of this, the BBFC say it was previously cut by seven seconds...

Just ordered "Ten To Midnight" and "Murphy's Law" from DVD Soon for three quid each. I have a weakness for this sort of thing.

Murphys Law has the best last line in modern film.
I won't spoil it for you

Just got the German version of Chato's Land. It is either fullscreen or open matte, definately not 1.85 as stated on box. Appears uncut with picture quality slightly below the R1 version I have.

The region 1 version of Chato's Land has not been cut.
The same shots are in both, but the indian girl wears a blanket for R1

I ment the picture quality is not as good as the R1. On the subject of 'uncut' most people would be unhappy to buy a toned down version of a violent action film, certainly on this forum. The R1 is not cut and it is in my dustbin. With regards the R2 German version, I doubt this is a restored version dispite the same cover as the R1 and it is not the advertised 1.85 picture.
