Interesting article from the NY Times as Warners try to get some good publicity:

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/19/mo...l?pagewanted=1

No word on a Uk release date yet? Surely they'd have to bring it out at the same time?

Another script review (some spoilers): http://www.comicbookresources.com/columns/?column=13

The first trailer is due to appear on the official site in a day or so.

Trailer now out: http://vforvendetta.warnerbros.com/trailer.html

So its looking like Matrix meets Big Brother (think Orwell rather than dregs of society). I have no idea what to think about this I really dont.

Yeah I know waht you mean, in my head V for Vendetta was a filmed more like say a Ken Loach film that happened to include a superpowered vigilante and the odd action scene, bullet -time knives and glossy action movie look will take quite a bit of getting used to.

Oh "An uncomprimising vision of the future from the Matrix Creators", I heard some bloke called Alan Moore had a something to do with it.

Trailers out.

http://vforvendetta.warnerbros.com/trailer.html

And it looks pretty good.

Apart from the fact the trailer says it's from 'The Creators of the Matrix' and dosen't even mention Mr Moore.

But that was Alan Moore's decision surely?

Trailer looks good. I only hope they keep V's soliloquy (sp?) regarding how the people of the world have elected dictators etc, in tact.

They don't mention Moore because he told them he didn't want his name on it, or anything that's adapted from his work anymore.

Read the script review above, they haven't. ALthough it says it was an older draft so they might have changed that.

It does actually look pretty good, but I'm prepared to eat my big floppy hat.

V for Vendetta is one of those pieces of work where I lose control of my objectivity and turn into a demented fanboy.

Rarrrrggghhh must smash script changes!

To be fair to the moviemakers, dropping Crowley references and ditzy (hey, I'm sympathetic) anarchist implications is to be expected, really. I can't ever believe that anyone adapting this was gonna leave "Love is the law, Love under Will etc" in there and expect Joe Sixpack to understand their true significance.

Much preferable (in terms of easy translation) to make V an archetypal "freedom fighter" etc. I wonder how much of his ruthlessness has been left intact? Especially his bombing people left, right and centre?

Probably not too much...

Personally I thinks it's quite funny when they keep using the word 'uncompromising' and then drop the Evey as prostitute element because it might offend.
