Good point. But maybe it would be best made in 6/9 months time?

I know what you are saying about a few months time, before judging players. But most Manchester United fans I know were laughing when they recieved that amount of money for a very, very average player with a lot of baggage.

It's an exciting time to be a Manchester City fan at the moment. Sven has been a Revelation since coming in, he's signed players on the quiet, he revamped the whole training ground. He's brought a level of professionalism to the club that we only dreamed about under Stuart Pearce. Pearce was a nice guy, but do you want nice guy or a good manager. Ask the team from Trafford?

We have to hope that with another 3 or 4 quality signings that we push up the league, so that next summer we can spend more of Franks money and try and push up a bit higher, then maybe with a few more the year after we can crack the elusive top 4.

It's a pipe dream, but dream we do

Rumours doing the mill on City websites today are that we are planning a double swoop. CITY are poised to pip Premiership rivals to another Eastern European star in Vedran Corluka, while the Blues are closing in on Real Sociedad defender Javi Garrido.

See the Manchester Eveening News link below:-

Sven poised for double swoop

Anyone know much about these 2 players.

Listened to it!

Innocent 'til proven guilty, or isn't that the way it's supposed to be.

Sven seems to have a fantastic network, he's brought in a lot of players without breaking the bank or buy huge Bosmans on massive wages.

People in the know, seem to rate these players. Don't wtatch much Italian football myself, so am ignorant about these players, but am looking forward to finding out

There's a quote in Apocolypse Now.

Kurtz: What do you call assassins who accuse assassins?

or

Charging a man with murder in this place was like handing out speeding tickets in the Indy 500

A bit extreme, this is football and the Premier league sold it's soul a long time ago. We've just jumped on the bandwagon along with all the Big Teams. Some people don't like it.

Man City boss Eriksson ready to up Chiellini bid

God I hope this is True

I cannot for one second imagine we will be able to sign Chiellini, but the lad himself has said he really wants to come apparently, so

Corluka is immense in FM2007

Bojinov is a great, great signing too (although I'd rather have had Nery Castillo - can't win them all I guess?)

interesting to see the different approaches by mancity and westham both clubs with money westham go for the tried and tester prem players (although many appear to be slight nutjobs) where as sven has gone for the FM dream 11! if they click in the premiership could see some amazing footie at city.

The next signing confirmed:-

City sign Garrido

From the offical site:-

Quote:

Manchester City has signed Real Sociedad left back Javier Garrido for £1.5million.

The Spanish Under 21 international is Sven Goran Eriksson’s fifth signing of the summer and he moves to City on a four year contract after completing a medical and agreeing terms.

The 22-year-old earned glowing notices despite Sociedad’s relegation last season and had attracted interest from a number of clubs in Spain and England.

Since making his debut for Sociedad in 2004/05, Garrido made 86 appearances and scored once.
Any Spanish football fans know much about him?

Bloody Hell!!

It never rains, but it pours. Confirmation from the offical website, 2nd signing of the day:-

Quote:
Manchester City has signed Croatian international defender Vedran Corluka from Dinamo Zagreb for undisclosed fee

The 21-year-old is Sven-Goran Eriksson’s fifth signing and he has put pen to paper on a five year deal, subject to a work permit, after attracting interest from several Premier League clubs.

Capped nine times at international level, Vedran already has some first-hand knowledge of what to expect in the Premier League having played in Croatia’s 2-0 win over England last season as well as facing Arsenal in a Champions League qualifier last August.

Born in Bosnia & Herzegovina when it was still part of the former Yugoslavia, Vedran played over 60 times for Dinamo as well as gaining valuable loan experience at Inter Zapresic.

Well over six feet tall, Vedran can play either in central defence or at right back and is an extremely capable ball player.
Don't know much about him either. Svens scouts have been working over time today

Carluka is much better known than Garrido (to me anyway).
He's a great prospect for sure.

and the 3rd signing of the day.

ven-Goran Eriksson has completed his third signing of the day with Brazillian midfielder Elano Blumer joining the Blues in an £8m deal.

The Brazillian international signs in from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk on a four-year contract and gives the Blues boss further options in his squad.

Elano scored twice for his country in their 3-0 victory over arch rivals Argentina in a prestige friendly at the Emirates Stadium in September 2006 and has been a regular in the squad since January 2004.

Hailed by national coach Dunga as 'the symbol of the new Brazil', Elano joins after a very successful Copa America where he helped his side lift the cup for the eighth time.

Following the third signing of the morning, City Chief Executive, Alistair Mackintosh said: "This morning has proved to be an immensely productive one, the outcome of which is the acquisition of three top quality players for Manchester City Football Club.

"This has been achieved as a result of some tremendous team work and I would like to praise everyone involved for their efforts. I would particularly like to thank Dr Thaksin, without whom today's signings would not have been possible."

Elano at Man City

Elano Blumer has revealed how the ambition of Sven Goran Eriksson convinced him about joining Manchester City.

The Shakhtar Donetsk midfield ace is joining City in a £10 million move and is expected to sign a four-year contract possibly as early as today.

Brazil international Elano said: "Before accepting the proposal, I asked if they were signing more players and if the idea was to mount a challenge to fight with the big clubs of England. When they answered 'yes', I have accepted it.

"Eriksson is a great person, a personality, I am keen to work with him and to play in the Premier League."

Elano also revealed: "The directors told me that they're going to sign more Brazilians. But, I cannot reveal the names."

This crazy old City signing footballers thing could just work. Sven's enture reputation rests on him doing the business at City and he's certainly made an impressive start.

Looks like your season might have more to it than just looking forward to the derby

City doing FAR more impressive business than the likes of West Ham - I think people are seeing the pull that Sven has in Europe still.

Far more likely to be the pull of Thaksin's money IMO.
