What team does Alan Green support?

"Greeny", the doyen of radio football commentators, always refuses to name who he supports.

But to me it seems obvious that Liverpool is his team.

In the days when I used to listen to radio 5 for the football prior to getting Sky, I always used to think he supported Manchester United because he was always at their home games but I think that might be something to do with where he used to live - Maccesfield.

He used to say that he supported any team that plays good football.

He "officially" supports Maccesfield, the same as Tyler "officially" supports Woking. But I think we all know who they really support.

When I saw the thread title...I thought...whoever Liverpool are playing. Strange how we all think he hates our own team. He must be equally annoying to everyone.

Liverpool, Arsenal and seemingly anyone who plays against Manchester United.

Apparently he used to get on with Fergie but not anymore.

Martin Tyler is an Arsenal fan whatever he might say.

Why doesn't he tell us who he supports? What is his problem?

If he supported a fairly high-profile team, of course he wouldn't want to reveal it. If, say, he revealed he was a Man Utd fan, he'd be accused of bias all the time. As it is, he's accused of bias towards lots of teams, as this thread shows

Don't know about Alan Green (BBC nobody) but Martin Tyler is definitely a Woking supporter. My Uncle lives there and I've been to a couple of games where Mr Tyler was present.

The word 'professionalism' comes to mind.

It's Liverpool. This was confirmed to me by a fellow BBC commentator at a party a couple of years ago. The most supported team amongst the BBC commentary team is Leicester City.
