Time Bandits R4 - pan & scam?

Sorry if this has been asked before..

I see the R4 Time Bandits is $9.95..not the Anchor Bay..
Fullscreen.

Is this pan & scan or un-matted? I presume we are talking bog standard DVD..obviously no extras.
Michael DVD says its pan & scan but would like clarification..also he says just 2.0 surround..says 5.1 in link above?

Avoid it.


Time Bandits was filmed on 1.33:1 negative with the matted widescreen being the intended ratio.

The R4 disc is a Pan & Scam of the matted widescreen version !!!!!

So with the R4 version you lose the top, bottom, left and right of the picture.

If Michael DVD says it only 2.0 Surround it most proberly it. (who are you going to believe, Michael DVD who actual look at the disc in great detail or EzyDVD who look at the back cover and press releases)

Rainbow releases are crap. They list the sound as Dolby AC3 on the back of the package, which (I think) is misinterpreted as being Dolby 5.1.

Or, if you are a cheapskate, get the danish version, which I picked up for less than 6 quid ages ago, and to be fair its not too bad.

The reason I didn't mind getting the unmatted version is because I project onto a grey board with a black border, cut to approx 1.66:1..should still hide any unwanted booms or whatever..both The Shining and Full Metal Jacket for example can be viewed this way of course.
1.85:1 copy from Play will do nicely though!
