I heard a whisper that we've lined up Baldini (sp?) for that position.

As disappointing as the final day was, I have to say that overall I'm very happy with the last season. The reality is that most had written us off as 7th or 8th when we sacked Redknapp, so to get 5th in his 1st season is outstanding.
The goons are really only taking the **** so much as they have a huge collective sense of relief and I believe they were truly bricking it. They had a fantastic end of season run of results whilst playing pretty poorly and relying on some dodgy officiating and a lot of good fortune - if the luck had been reversed then things would/could have been very different. I'm proud that despite our failings we ran them a bloody close race, and it's just a shame that our 2 most hated rivals are also the 2 jammiest clubs in world football.

Re: The Tottenham Hotspur Thread 2012/2013
The guardian is reporting that Bale is 'poised' to sign a new deal @ £150k a week. Don't think it makes much difference to whether he goes or stays but a decent signal of intent.
The squad is off to the Caribbean.
Oh and the u21's leery a two goal leaf slip against United and lost 3-2...

We can question the "easy" points dropped but for the goons to win 8/10 of their last games, most of them ugly, you have to hand it to them. Was Levy's failure to sign a striker in the jan window the main negative of the season?

Not so much, everyone has injuries. More that our reserves/subs are mid-table level rather than who the sides above us are able to draw on

I think our squad is better particularly when all fit but we lacked quality up front. The gooners had 4 players who scored double figures. We relied too much on Bale. Defoe and Ade werent good enough particularly Ade.
Hopefully we can get in the right players and improve the mix of the squad. Excited about Townsend who has done very well on loan.

Everyone's allowed to criticise David Bentley!

Re: The Tottenham Hotspur Thread 2012/2013
Also, UEFA are expected to announce tomorrow that the Europa league winners will qualify for the Big Cup (CL) from 2015-16 onwards.
Hope we don't need that by then (!) but I think that's a good move.

The sooner they remove the CL dropouts the better, it removes whatever integrity it had left.

Well it sounds like we won't have to suffer through a transfer window linking us to Moutinho again, he's off to Monaco it seems.

Well he has left Roma now and is meant to be on his way ... DoF is one thing But a few strikers is sort of what we need for the new season

Re: The Tottenham Hotspur Thread 2012/2013
Well it seems that AVB is keen on the position to help with scouting and transfers so I'm all for it.
Whether Baldini is the man for the job, only time will tell.

Thoughts on Defoe + £££ for Benteke? Defoe is great on his day, and he is a true yiddo but in my eyes he's just not consistent enough. Not sure if he had to make allowances for Bale in the latter half of the season but he wasn't firing on all cylinders. Benteke is a tank but he'll be on a lot of clubs' radars.

He has been a great player for the club and gets on with it without causing much of a fuss despite being limited in appearances at times - I wouldn't like to let him leave unless we got 3 new strikers in, even then I would prefer to keep him over Adebayor.
Still not convinced with Benteke especially if you would have to splash out £20m+

Is everyone allowed to use the term 'yiddo' or would it cause problems in polite society?

On the basis that Peter Herbert has said he will take action against it, it's probably fine given the context
