Buying shares for kids? Any idea how?

Hi All

Kids have got a couple of thousand each sitting in a Halifax account, it pays a bit more interest than they'd pay me, but fundamentally when they hit 18 it looks like they'll have the equivalent of �2000. Or more likely me saying, well back when we invested it �2242 was a decent sum of money.

So was going to invest it in some boring shares for them.

When I look how to do this on google, all I get are fundamentally adverts.

Anyone got any idea? Something fairly simple, probably �250 each of a few shares.

Thanks, in the end we went with a Junior ISA and stuck it across a few different funds. I have enough stress trying to manage my own meagre shares, don't need to worry about the kids as well.

actually might not be such a bad purchase. Can anybody recommend a decent easy site for being able to hold of some? Treat me like the n00b I am
