I had to stop watching, the sound mix was dreadful in my opinion. I had headphones plugged into my TV but the music was louder than the dialogue. I really wanted to enjoy this but I gave up after an hour.

We didn't think much of it, too long, boring characters and a final act that just felt like a bit of a mess with it not very clear what was really going on.

We both agreed we doubt we'd ever watch it again.

I'd say the time went really fast, it was very tightly edited, and surprisingly James-Bondy with absolutely stunning set pieces. I liked the catamarans in particular, but completely unnecessary.

Way too many shoot-outs too, which get boring for me (like the end of Inception). I wish Nolan would spend his big budgets on more cerebral content, rather than spaffing it on weapons and cars.

Finally got to see this today with the Missus. Not sure how I feel about the film really as I love all Nolan stuff.

May change my mind if someone could clear up this plot point:

If you've loved Nolan's previous stuff I'd recommend watching it again soon. I struggled with it on one watch but after the second I'd decided it was another classic from him!

as the scientist said early on to the protagonist - "don't try to understand it"

I see that Google Play are offering a movie rental for 99p (valid 21 days). Tenet is in the rental list (4K version) if you have the TV/app combo to play it back.

I've always found Google Play's video quality to be not great, especially in dark scenes. Nowhere close to the standard of Netflix. I know it's not my kit, I'm using an OLED. I've not tried watching anything in 4K on there mind, could be that's better.

For Tenet though I'd recommend watching it from a better service.

Google play 1080p is ropey. The 4K Doctor Sleep Directors Cut was pretty good though. That was literally the only store that sold the DC in the UK in 4K. Not even available on disc as far as I could tell. Very annoying.
Google Play need to do the same as Apple and drop the SD/HD/4K purchase options. Just give everyone the best version.

My wife and I finally got round to watching Tenet yesterday - we also really struggled with the dialogue and had to rewind and switch the subtitles on a number of times.

I enjoyed it but I didn’t love it - thought all the actors were excellent and really liked a lot of the set pieces (it looks like a big budget movie) The film didn’t really connect on an emotional level however - I didn’t care about any of the characters and whilst the action scenes were clever, I didn’t find any of them exciting. It all felt a bit ‘cold’

I’ll definitely watch again however as I suspect it will be more enjoyable on 2nd viewing as JimDriver has said.

I suppose it is a bit cold when you consider the main character had no name!

I won’t watch it again, once was enough!

Hard to enjoy but I liked the idea, it just needed refining for a movie audience.

Also Kenneth Branagh puts in one of the worst acting performances I've seen in a good while. The minute he appears the whole thing starts to head south. It's like he's acting as a bad guy in Eastenders.

I thought Branagh was great in it, genuinely menacing.

Felt exactly as you did walking out the cinema. It is much much better the second time round.
