Timer / remote control plugs ?

Hi all,

I know the above exist but everything I have found looks to work via a 'passthrough' mechanism is you plug the timer into the socket and then plug your device into the timer.

Has anyone ever seen something where the timer/remote comes in a normal size plug which you then wire your device into ? Or would I looking at an actual socket that is timer/remote controlled ?

I know here you can get them built into the outlet (socket). I would hope can in UK too given there is more space in a UK socket I think.

Some of the pass through ones are very small though.

Some of the UK snart sockets, Lightwave being the ones I'm familiar with, require a deeper than normal wall box .

Thanks guys - I thought that might be the case.

This is for an outdoor socket ( which has already been connected up ) - and remote/timer outdoor sockets are available. So hopefully, if need be, it won't be too tricky to swap out
