Quite where people have got the idea that the Doctor is not sexualised is beyond me.

Nine hundred years without getting his leg over? With that in mind, if the drector told me to stop snogging Kylie Minogue I'd tell him to put it where the sun most sincerely don't shine!

Because it was never anywhere near as blatant and overt as it is now? I seem to recall that Peter Davison was even under orders not to touch Janet Fielding or Sarah Sutton whatsoever!
I've always interpreted the Doctor/Jo relationship to be closer to a father/daughter relationship than anything sexual. His sadness at the end of the Green Death could just as much be like a parent watching his child fly the nest as it could be about anything romantic.
That said, I have no doubt whatsoever that the fourth Doctor and Romana were at it like rabbits

Maybe not as blatant and overt but it was certainly obvious that the Doctor was sexualised, why else would he choose to travel with so many female companions (and a fair few male ones as well ).
You're right about Peter Davison being under orders not to touch Janet or Sarah, Producer John Nathan-Turner was absolutely firm that the Doctor should not appear to be interested in Tegan and Nyssa in that way.

I dis-agree. I don't recall the Dr ever snogging a companion prior to the Paul McGann special. Or making any sexual undertones or overtones. He's worse than Captain Kirk now, he'll snog anything.
why else would he choose to travel with so many female companions (and a fair few male ones as well).
That was to keep blokes watching after the football scores, hence Leela running around in her skimpies. Nothing to do with the character per se.

Hmmm more TRD **** methinks. Should have been so much better.
Usual over dramatic piece to camera about how great the Doctor is.
Trailer for next season already has been wincing over Catherine Tate. I never thought I would say bring back Billie !

Information: That was bobbins, usual overblown RTD crap...
Previews of both Season 4 and Torchwood looked ok, but as we know that means nothing as to the actual quality.

Thought it was absolutely terrible.
All of the new characters were annoying and it was OTT in not a good way. Had me cringing way too much for what is meant to be a family fun entertainment.
And what have they done to the theme tune?!?! Why change an iconic classic
Catherine Tate in the Series 4 trailer had me worried as well. I hated her in the Christmas special last year and this has done her no favours so far

They killed Kylie...........who actually is starting to look her age, rather than the ageless pop princess. Not really a Dr.Who fan but did find this particularly meh...I would have been better off watching the Poseidon adventure as this was clearly a rip-off/bad homage to it.

I really enjoyed it...
Possibly a few too many deaths for a Christmas Special, and they could have condensed the last 5 minutes to about 30 seconds, but on the whole it did what an Xmas Special should do - it kept us glued to the TV for 80minutes, which seemed more like 40..

Well I wasn't going to watch it, but I did and it was rubbish. Disappointing (though no Catherine Tate, which was a plus, I suppose).
Though watching the trailer for the new series made me miss the very start of Harry Hill's TV Burp. Now that was quality TV and they had Shane Magowan to sing the closing song!!!111 Let's hear it for Harry! :

Absolutely awful episode - hugely disappointing, Dr Who and TV Burp were the only two Christmas shows I was looking forward to, and I missed TV Burp

I thought it was amusing. Who would have thought RTD would kill all the minorities [midget, obese, obese black] in a Christmas special?? ON THE BBC???
Not just that, but, come on. Obese suicide on Christmas Day.
Thats the true spirit of Christmas....

So, no need to hold out next season for a poorly assembled mash-up of Robots of Death, Poseidon Adventure and Alien 3 with an execrable piece of comedy Queen schtick bolted onto the end. No, I’m not talking about RTD.............but then again....
Dreadful and cheap-looking with a poorer than usual Murray Gold score (hard to believe such a thing is possible).
Still, thanks to RTD for the porno French Maid outfit he persuaded Kylie to wear.

I enjoyed it overall despite the usual caveats (bad writing, cheapish looking despite having a good budget etc).
Kylie was good and I cried (but I'm allowed to coz I'm a gayer)!
OH and I was genuinely surprised by the Titanic being a spaceship as I managed to ignore (without actually trying to) every trailer and article on this episode!

Comedy standout in the next season trailer - Tate running like a fat bird chasing the last night bus after a skinful and a large doner.
And was it me or did she work some of her sketch material into one of the scenes????
