Arrow Doctor Who - The Christmas Invasion & Attack of the Graske - DVD update

Right just under a day to go to give & open our presses, curse the bloody toy manufactures who seam hell bent on making everything my son gets come in a million pieces with a foreign instruction pamphlets, cure the people who never think of giving batteries with toys for the kids that need them, stuff our self silly, drink ourselves into an afternoon snooze & then wake up in time for The Christmas Invasion!

Properly wont see it on the day myself as will be caught up with other things (PLEASE don’t let me down Sky+ !)

Anyway here is its own little thread for your exportations, your disappointments, on the show & what you make of the first proper look at the 10th Doctor.

Oh & don’t forget the Attack of the Graske on BBC I straight after, using your red button.

DVD UPDATE
Just a 'bump' to say that The Christmas Invasion will be repeated on BBC Three at 9pm on Friday 10 February.

Not sure if the Attack of the Graske will be avalible than as well, but it still is avalible on line HERE.

Also it looks like there will be no all singing & dancing, extras filled release of The Christmas Invasion on DVD.
Instead it is due to be released as one of the 'vanilla' DVD's that will be released for "Series 2". It will be paired with the first episode of Series 2 New Earth & will be released late spring.

Shame really as I was hoping we would get a SE DVD of The Christmas Invasion , with the Children In Need Special, Attack of the Graske, those "missing" but now "found" Series 1 additional scenes/out-takes, & some other extras. On the plus side it WILL be included in the Series 2 boxset due to be released in November, so no doubt there will be a few extras about it on that set.

Please keep this thread spoiler free from any gossip for the Series Two, & keep this about the Christmas Invasion ONLY.
If you have any news etc about Series Two, please post in the Doctor Who - Season Two production & rumors thread. Maybe SPOILERS! thread

For any classic Who info please use the The Classic Doctor Who Thread thread

I quiet enjoyed that, was a bit slow whilst the Doctor was asleep, but once he woke up it was rather good, loks like Tennant should shape up quite well as the new Who.

Well, it wasn't tooo bad in the end.

Thought it was a masterstroke to not feature the Doctor at all until the lat 20mins after all the build up. But, when he finally appeared, thought he was fab.
Billie really is great in this but they will have to get rid of her before she over shadows the doctor and the show turns into 'Rose'! One more series and then time for a new assistant I would think.

Her mum and boyfriend are awful though.

and K9!!

Yeah, really rather enjoyed it!
David Tennant really is a sexy bugger in a weird way! *blush*

Liked the small details, like Big Ben still being re-built from the last time it was knocked down etc!

Also in the preview for the series there's a woman who looks just like Pres. Roslin from Battlestar Galactica! It's not her is it?!

The BBCi thing is actually quite good. Is the special repeated at all, I missed it.

Fantastic - absolutely fantastic!

Didn't read this thread until now, so didn't know about Attack of the Graske until they trailered it. A great surprise.

I really had some doubts about Tennant as the new Doctor but he absolutely nailed it! In fact, on this early indication he could be even better than Chris Ecclestone!

I was thinking through the first half, that they were really letting us down. And inthe few minutes that tennant did wake up, he was as stupid and manic as he was in the Comic relief Special.

But when he appeared properly he was brillant. really contained a sense of menace and of complete contempt for the Alien race.

Loved the humour as always. Did anyone else notice the subtle Snowman musical cue? The Lion king line had me ******* myself.

The idea that Earth was somehow going to strat defending it'self aggressively was superbly introduced (along with the introduction of Torchwood), and the ash of the victims falling as snow at the end was a pretty dark idea for BBC1 on Christmas Day at 8pm!

Attack of the Graske was a superb little piece of entertainment too. I fai.ed miserably, but enjoyed it a lot. Loved Tennant telling us that the world would implode if we watched ITV!

And although the OP posted about no spoilers for Season 2, as it was shown as part of this episode, I do not think that it is unfair to mention this here. if anyone objects though, I will come back and spoilerise it.

the Cybermen looked poor to me, K9 looked good, and Sarah jane looked old!

A Huge big from me.

One of the best Christmas Day Specials ever made, IMHO!

Not interested until the Dr woke up (with some spilt tea, ZZZzzz). Doc had a few good lines (Lion King, Arthur Dent, etc), and as has been said, Rose was annoying.
Enjoyed the bits with the Dr in far more than the Ecclestone shows, but still not quite there for me - I just can't imagine Baker in a party hat having Xmas dinnner..

I think it looks a damn site more promising than the last series, and will definitley be checking out the first couple of eps come spring.

Loved the new Doctor! Very funny lines and I think I like him more than Ecclestone. The episide was slow to get started, nice to see more of the effects of the regeneration.

Was looking forward to the interactive episode, crashed 4 times on me due to technical errors and I gave up

The new season preview looked great!

Damn, I didn't bother with the BBCi stuff afterwards!

This really should be repeated a little bit more over the next day or two on BBC3 (the next TWO nights are ALL Little Britiain on BBC3!) as I'm the only one in the house who wanted to watch this - so had to annoy the family a bit on Christmas Day to break up the evening with watching this.

Not everyone wants to spend Xmas day in front of the box, so more repeats would be good - I can't imagine many people are about on New Years Day either!

I wasn't looking forward to the thought of Dr Who without Christopher Eccleston, but I have to admit, David Tennant was rather good and kind of sexy in a nerdy way!

Billie has always annoyed me so another vote here for a new assistant soon and I was clapping at seeing K9 - he was my fave character the first time round
