yup it still makes sense in that the current doctor has a favourite out of his previous generations, but the wording 'your my doctor' still feels a bit dubious to me, it feels too like someone from our perspective (eg the writer or actor saying it) than like something you'd say to yourself if you met yourself, it'd be more like 'I like the fact i was once you the most' or something, not a 'your my doctor' which sound slike an outsiders judgement, sitting watching them all and picknig one as a favourite. 'your my doctor' to me, carries emoitonal baggage, in the fact that it normally ties into which one people grew up with, so it might be my own prejudices getting in the way, but the whole thing as i said felt too surface value and not well written at all. The previous chidren in need by RTD was superb, not often that you hear that here, RTD doing a better job than Stephen Moffat!

Couldn't the fifth Doctor have been the tenth Doctor's favourite of his past incarnations? Surely that would then justify him saying "you were my Doctor"?

The scene was superbly written and deserved successful.

For what it's worth I thought this was brilliant, funny and very touching.

Clearly the 10th Doctor was telling the 5th he was 'his Doctor' as those who listened to all of the dialogue would know.

Not by a long shot. I'd rank entire episodes above that moment as being worse. Also come to think of it, I'm sure Tom Baker broke down the forth wall as well in an episode by turning toward the camera and saying "even my sonic screwdriver won't get me out of this one".

I feel like I must be one of the few people who enjoyed this for what I think it was - a well written, funny, touching homage designed to get you to open your wallets and purses. Certainly beats previous Children in Need rubbish like Dimensions in Time (try shoe-horning that into the "canon").
