Spurs have never had (or at least spent) the transfer budget Mourinho would demand, and they're still paying for the stadium. Can't see a budget-restricted job would appeal to chequebook Jose.

Mourinho is your man! He’s looking forward to working with the team and is excited by the talent in the academy...this from a man who is notorious for not promoting academy players! Good luck.

That's not true though, he gave some of the better younger players a run at United.

No idea why you dumped Poch but think you've done ok getting it all done quick and I think Mourinho will be decent for you. He never really made the effort to settle in Manchester so it always felt like it was work, not love.

Probably the only job left to him tbh, but he'd be a terrible manager for you. He'd demand to spend big and he might do OK. Think they should look a little harder.

Pretty awful appointment and imagine Poch will regret not jumping ship while his credit rating was higher. Not going to get Man Utd now I wouldn't have thought.

It’s been true at most of his clubs, maybe he was forced into it at UTD if the Glazers wouldn’t spend. He was very reluctant at Chelsea and Real to promote from the academy.

Hopefully Spurs will challenge for some trophies under Mourinho but could be a lot of negative football ahead!

Can't imagine anyone giving JM a job after United, or RM, or Second Chelsea, I'm guessing within his three months he'll be giving his "sack me" interviews.

But yeh it's a classic case of why no manager at all should show any loyalty.

Sorry to remind you of this ...

I've just watched highlights of the '87 Cup Final. It looked like half the Spurs players did not have the Holsten advert on their shirts.

What was that all about?

Just a cock-up with the new kit that we played in for the first time that day:

Looks like Bale is coming home. Not sure what sort of deal will be done on the wages, he's supposed to be on Ł600k a week, he seemed happy enough just to collect a pay cheque.

I reckon he's got a couple of decent seasons left in him if he turns up and wants to play, but I'd be concerned he wasn't that interested. People considering playing in China generally aren't.

But good lord do Spurs need some action up front, my mate is a Spurs fan and made me watch the matches after the restart, boring as hell.

He's back home. Our new number 9. Son / Kane / Bale. Wowsers.

He is, of course, injured! But has a 4-week training plan to get him up to speed and he's still generally a very fit athletic man. Hopefully, he can recapture some of those moments we had 7-10 years ago.

I can't say I know much about Reguilon, other than being a young Spanish left back who was on loan at Sevilla last season. But he's reportedly very good and I'd imagine will be first choice in due course.

My line manager is a Spurs season ticket holder. He is far more excited by Reguilon ( a position you had issues with for ages ) than Bale's return which he sees as a massive gamble that a probably won't pay off
