Are the rumours of Demba Ba's £10m release clause correct? 22 goals in 31 prem games is pretty impressive given that he got them for West Ham and Newcastle.
|
Steven Fletcher has 19 in 28 Prem games for Wolves since we signed him. Ba's nowt special He also has a better goal to chance ratio than Ba this season.

Wasn't our Harry quoted t'other day as saying that Ba's release fee clause is actually <£10m? The speculation in the media was that it was nearer £5m!

I've heard £5-7m quoted - wouldn't surprise me, if I'm honest. Any player with clever enough agents to allow West Ham to punt £6m plus on you, dodgy knee and all, plus negotiate a relegation release clause which lets you walk for free, has good people around him.
I wouldn't be upset if we got him but I can't see him leaving Newcastle in January. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Berbs talk disappear and him stay with us till at least the summer in any case.

Demba Ba: 27 Starts + 4 Sub = 22 goals
Fletcher : 28 Starts + 17 Sub = 19 goals
I'd definitely say Ba has the more impressive record...

Somoone mentioned on the Guardian Podcast last week that Ba's £5m get out clause could only be triggered by a club in the Champions League.

Fergie didn't want to talk about that De Gea story during the press conference this morning, so it's probably true.
On the upside it seems Cleverley is finally making progress towards a return, as is Young.

2 more goals from Clint Dempsey, don't know why United haven't gone after him in the past, got to be better than Scholes.

I wondered about De Jong, too. Effective player when used within his limitations. Trouble is, City player out of contract = mega mega wage demands.

De Jong has 18 months on his contract and City will definitely not sell to United in the summer. He would be very useful though.

At least we'll be seeing two proper football teams going at it.

Sky reckon it will be Smalling at right back and Jones in the middle - I'd prefer that the other way around. It's a pity Vermaelen is back for them as Valencia would have crucified Miquel.

I expect Smalling will be centre-back with Jones right-back. Personally I'd prefer Rafael in at right-back in order to free-up Jones for the central-midfield; once again we're taking a risk by putting out our weakest area with a man light compared to Arsenal's three - Rooney will need to drop back a lot to make up the numbers there.

Another injury for United, Jones rolling his ankle.
