Sorry if it appears a stupid question but has anyone got any experience of the best way to do this please?
Cheers

I use MediaLink to connect my iMac to my PS3 (via Wi-Fi). You can access your photos, iTunes, movies, etc.
Very good and only $20!

I can stream MKV and avi files from the PC to the PS3 via PS3 media server - wish you could structure to display cover art though (unless you can, and I haven't figured it out yet!)

Another vote for ps3 media server, although if you can get plex working it has a much better interface, pulls cover art, metadata etc.

I used to use PS3MS but am currently using Tversity. Any obvious advantages by going back to the former?

Another thumbs up for Medialink. I also use Nullriver's Connect360 to stream from my Mac to the Xbox.

I have Connect360 and it works well for what it does, it's just that ps3 media server is a free option and imo handles transcoding better. What I would say is, for streaming to 360 and if you have the right file types, connect360 is a great option
