Currently offering 30% off Sports for 12 months making it Ł17.85 p/m. Existing customers too.
I only really want Sports for the NFL now. I cancelled it last month but the F1 channel is still working for some reason. Not that fussed about the football which I can live without, but I need NFL every week!
How long so they usually leave you without sports before they start emailing and ringing you with offers? Mine went off on the 5th but not heard anything from them yet. I guess with the football season already started now they aren't going to be pushing the discounts as hard as they were a month ago.

Yeah it was about 18 month ago, I cancelled saying I could no longer afford it and despite asking they said they couldn't offer me any discount. I phoned to cancel my cancellation the day before I was due to be disconnected.
It's annoying when you have been a Sky subscriber for 25 years and they don't offer you anything.

Once they offered a loyalty bonus with a bigger discount on some upgrade depending how long you'd been a member but that was a LONG TIME ago.

You have to be willing to go through with it. It's a game of brinksmanship. If they hadn't made the offer, I'd have freesat right now and we'd be fine. Kids would be a bit **** off though!
Edit: in 12 months I'll cancel again. I'll make sure they know that the lot is going to bt, so they'll not have much time to make an offer.

I think you might be right, I'm not sure if that's how I got my first HD box.

Glad it works for you but I told them at the time I was jumping ship to BT and they still offered nothing. Had I actually gone through with it I would have been signed up to BT anyway by then.
As I said Sky like many companies don't give a toss over long time subscribers.

Why don't you just jump between Sky and BT, milking the offers?

I suppose I should but in the past BT TV didn't offer as much choice as Sky (channels, multi room etc).
As far as phone line and broadband is concerned I have swapped many times although I did have a really bad time with BT internet. Since I got Fibre with Sky the service has been really stable and good so I'm reluctant to change.

I was a looong time Sky customer for landline, phone, BB and TV. By 2012 my bill was pushing Ł90/m and I'd had enough.
I tried haggling for discounts but was never prepared to follow through on threats to leave - just like you, Bish. I'd become 'Sky-stitutionalised'!!
Then one day, after a change in financial circumstances, I thought '**** it ... can't afford this any longer'. I cancelled and signed up everything with BT for 18 mths and saved Ł40/m! In the period leading up to me leaving, Sky didn't even make 1 call to me to get me to stay.
It took about 2 months to get used to BT TV and it hasn't been too bad. The fibre was/is excellent but the signal through the aerial is sometimes awful meaning HD programs can sometimes be impossible to watch.
3 months in to the contract and the Sky calls started coming with various offers and discounts to come back. 'Where were you 3 months ago' I said?
The offers got to such a point where they gave me basic TV plus Sports for free for 5 months with no contract. I accepted, turned off the BT box and plugged Sky back in.
5 months later, I turned the Sky box off, cancelled my arrangement with them and went back to BT. 2 months later and I got exactly the same offer from Sky - so I took them up on it again ... and now I have 2 mths left to go on that arrangement.
My BT contract ends in Nov so will be free to see what Sky can offer for the full package incl phone etc. I will be happy to pay monthly with BT until Sky can give me an offer similar to Andy's - which I'm sure will come if I play the waiting game.
Moral is ... be prepared to go to another provider and Sky will be all over you.
BT is not THAT bad either ... but it's not Sky!
(Can't get Virgin here)

I threaten to cancel every 12m and get a discount. Luckily I have both sky and Virgin in the house so it's easy to play them off. Virgin I use for the phone and broadband and I did just have basic TV but now have TiVo and basic TV.
Sky I just have in the lounge and pay around Ł15.
So in total its Ł15 plus Ł37 Virgin and I paid Ł160 line rental in advance so Ł 62 or so for everything.

I've been with them since 1995 or 1996, sometimes at multiple addresses at the same time. I even made them aware of this in my final call before the offers were made. I think you've been really unlucky. I would have gone through with the cancellation and they may have been on the phone the following day. Can only think maybe the timing was wrong and they didn't have targets to hit, or something.

I do the same as CJ. You can't fault the Virgin BB, so I pay Ł33 for a phone line, BB and a basic TV subscription with a TIVO, I stuck that in our bedroom where we used to have multiroom.
Took a decent offer with SKY for the downstairs, worked out basically free after cashback.
Saved myself about Ł25 a month and I didn't have sports or anything, just the XL.
When the SKY deal runs out, I'll cancel it and consider going back to Virgin for TV.

Trouble being that I would have been without a phone line, internet and a TV package. Then how long do you wait for the call, had I gone through with it and jumped ship I would have been tied to BT.
As you say I probably was unlucky.

OK so I took off all 4 of my old devices I dont own on Skygo this week and added an ipad I bought. However I am selling to upgrade to an aipad air. So now I'm stuck paying for skygo extra and have 4 slots I am not allowed to add a device too like my iPhone until 1st October.
Then he said I can only add 1 device a month? That cant be right surely? So im paying for a service I cant use? And it will take 4 months to add 4 devices??
Surely not, most absurd thing ever......

That's Sky. That's legal providers in general really. Put as many limitations as possible on those willing to pay for their content. Incredible business model.

My dad had a similar issue trying to change 2 new devices at the same time, he just rang them up and kicked off and they made an 'exception' for him.

You can add 2 straight away fine. The problem comes when all your slots are full and you need to change/swap a slot.
It's understandable why they do it.

Similar issue with Sky NOW TV - can only add 1 device a month... I went to the now tv site and contact and then did a live chat and they sorted it out and let me add more devices.

I let my NOW TV sub drop off and when I started a new card all my devices had been wiped with one a month only available. A call to them allowed a 2nd device to be added.

For those you with everything, how about a Star Wars/Frozen/Premier League Sky+HD Remote?
