After months of back and forth I've finally gone back to Sky - on an extended free trial.

They've given me 60% discount on my old package which was the entertainment package plus sports and then £100 cash back.
This gives me 5 months of the above package free before I have to start pàying but I have a 31 day cancellation period.

That should take me nicely to the end of my BT contract and then i'll be free to negotiate!

Must say I have missed the user-friendliness of Sky, the box sets and the use of Sky Go.
The £0 monthly fee however is particularly sweet!

Seems that Sky Sports Darts has been launched on 404.

My Sky+HD box is failing fast. Were having to reboot it at least twice a day.

Does anyone know how much Sky charge for a replacement? Is it the brand new cost of £150 because I can't afford that.

I have thought of eBay but what puts me off getting hold of a box that is still in contract and unusable.

Maybe I'll go freesat...

Ring them up and tell them you want to cancel because you can't timeshift any more and you are going Freesat. I did that last time and got a free box but paid for delivery.

If they don't bite you can get boxes for well below £100 new on eBay

My Sky HD box has got audio problems on recording - do they still do the £70 repair or replace option?

A bit worried about replacing it though, apparently the new ones don't have a UHF out and won't work with TV Link? (which we use a lot)

This looks like it will get round that.

Pretty much at the end of my Sky contract so going to try haggling, just want to get an idea of the kind of price point I should be aiming for.

I currently have everything but sport (Variety, movies, Sky Go Extra, 2 HD boxes, multiroom, phone, Fibre Unlimited) and pay £102

Offered what sounded like a fairly standard discount - the full Sky package, instead of £82.50 for box & multiroom, £18 discounted on a rolling contract with no commitment drops it to £64.50.

We use Netflix, Amazon Prime etc. so much now, and watch the football down the pub that i've said to cancel.

£216 discount isn't bad on £990 a year, 22% ish - but for now i'm happy to try being without Sky TV for a while. That may change once we've lost it of course, or they could come back with a better offer within the 31days cancellation notice period.

I'll wait and see.

I had Sky TV&Broadband Free for a yr. I rang them up asking what pay I would be paying when the Free 12 months ended. I was quoted £33+7.50BB+Line Rental(Standard Prices). I cancelled TV and they gave me Free BB and just pay Line Rental as on Free 12 months Deal. Within a month I was getting 50% off offers to come back to TV. I didnt as moving in a few months and Im an authorised User on my Sisters Sky Go Extra anyway.

What is up with the Sky EPG? At the end of the week I have to switch it off at the wall for ten minutes or so so the forthcoming weeks recording schedule will display. Boo!

My series links had gone as well, the same thing happened just prior to Christmas, both times a planner rebuild restored them. I now have noticed that they have put an announcement up about it on their forum.

My HD box started playing up a couple of weeks ago, I had to do a full restore in the end loosing loads of recordings. Since then the box has restored itself another three times so in the end decided if Sky wouldn't fix\replace it for free I'd just cancel and get a BT box as they were offering one for free.

Phoned Sky to cancel and got a 2TB HD box for free! so far I'm very pleased with it although I did have to buy an adaptor to continue feeding the RF output to another room. The picture quality is noticeably better, especially on SD channels so on the whole, I'm happy with the outcome.

Just logged onto sky.com to work out when I started the year's subscription at £25 a month and I have been informed that it will increase to £33 from April so that me phoning up to cancel it. It's been nice but definitely not worth the upcoming increase. The software now is bobbins too.

It does make you wonder why they do these increases.A pound or 2 maybe but £8. I bet if you ring up to cancel they offer you a deal cheaper than £25 but either way Sky are loosing money doing these increases.
Would anyone just sit back and accept that increase?

Is it not because all the packages had a reshuffle?

Original is 21.50
Variety is 28.00
Family is 33.00

Any increase at all and we will be cancelling. I will see what BT do in regard their free sport with broadband deal, but I can see me ditching all of Sky. Greedy *******.

Moved house recently and cancelled my old account on the basis that I knew I'd get it cheaper as a new customer.

Sure enough, half price for a year, £99 for a 2TB box and multiroom for free. Oh, and a ton of cashback. Makes a mockery of the whole situation. They've called me a few times and sent me a few surveys to work out why I'd left. LOL.
