It may be different now but when I moved from the East Anglia back to S. Wales it changed itself within a few days, I don't think we contacted Sky for at least a few weeks until after we moved.

Currently have Sky +HD in one room and Sky+ in another one on multi room subscription with just two entertainment packs.
Since the end of LOST, 24, and Battlestar Gallatica I really cant see much need for paying for this anymore (will miss House, Dexter and Chuck, but can always wait to the boxsets come out), anyhow thinking of ringing them and get free view cards for bot boxes and canceling as can save myself £38month by canceling Mutli room, Entertainment packs and multi room.
Any idea on what free HD channels I would get if I did this?
Of course the only down side is that I will have no way of recording anything anymore. Suppose I could pay the £10 a month or maybe go for a freesat reorder?

You would also get Luxe HD, ITV HD, BBC HD, CH4 HD and CH5 HD. There might be a few more like Sky News HD and e4 HD.

Can you actually get the '+' functionality for £10/month without subscribing to Sky at all?
ie: out of contract in the new year (2011) so could cancel everything but pay them £10/month for the recording stuff?
Actually, would that also mean I'd lose BB or not? I'd still be a Sky 'customer' I guess...

You have to pay the £10 for the recording facility to work, if you cancel the sub then you will not be able to use it to record.

Just had Sky HD fitted, got an Amstrad 500Gb box with it. Should they come with a remote, or do you buy that separate? I arrived after they had set up, so not seen a box. But the invoice lists a remote separately.....

Does the installer not have to leave his card,
and is responsible for the install
For the first 30 days?, i would be on the phone
To them and ask where the remote is !

Anyone got the new 1TB Sky HD box? I was thinking of getting one, but they're not exactly cheap.
I've been with Sky for more than 10 years, and I resent having to pay £249. I'd understand it if I was a new customer, but considering I've been with them for so long, they should offer me a 1TB just as a "thank you" for my custom.

I got the 1TB box with the intro £149 offer. Its a good box, its only crashed on me 2-3 times since I got it.
See if they'll introduce you to it but no you will not get it free.

I got the 1tb box and it's been faultless.
It's virtually silent too...and very very fast.

You don't have to pay anything. It's not a mandatory requirement..

According to My Sky I can get one for £249 plus £60 installation. No chance.

+1
A nicer looking box as well.
A friend of mine who has had regular sky for 3 years got quoted £400+ for a 1TB box.

First of all, apologies if this has already been asked, I've tried rummaging back through this thread but got lost trying to match up responses to the right query!
I'm currently a sky+ customer (basic package only) and have finally got round to buying an HD TV. I'd like to be able to get sky+ HD, but as I'm only on the basic package I don't want to be paying £10 a month for the privilege (I actually don't watch a hell of a lot of TV anyway). On the sky website it says that I can get 4-5 basic HD channels without subscription - excellent for me.
First of all, a quick question, will those channels be recordable with sky plus?
Then it comes to the best way to get hold of a box. I started looking at boxes on ebay (typically less than £50), but have been seeing commments like "I don't know the password" and "you'll need to lock the card to your box" - I'm not sure whether there are things I should be looking out for? I thought passcodes were all associated with your card rather than the box, and I never heard of locking the card to your box before - anyone know what this is about?
My other option might be to phone sky and moan to them and say I don't want to pay £10 a month and suggest I might leave and go for Freesat - does anyone know if sky offer discounts on the box if you try this?
Cheers guys
EDIT:- Perhaps should emphasise I'll be keeping up my basic sky subscription, not expecting to get it ALL for free

Yes, to be able to use the recording function on the HD box you must have an active subscription which you have.
