Dead Ringers DVD?

Can anyone tell me what release this is? Play.com

I've had a nightmare with this film over the years, shame as it's one of my favourites.

The Criterion is OOP. The Carlton disc is supposed to be shoody, and non-anamorphic. I finally found the R1 Warner Bros disc but since it's R1 I can't play it anymore on my R2 only HD DVD player.

Could this disc be my answer?

I imagine it's just the Carlton disc repackaged. I'd be wary of it unless someone can confirm it's a remastered version.

Why don't you contact that seller and ask him?

The DVD being sold on Play was part of promo by the the Daily Telegraph in 2005. There's a mention of it in the bargain forum though no further dtails on the disc itself. IMO its likely to be the Carlton release as they wouldn't go to expense of a remaster for such a promo.

DVDCompare has more info on the different releases of Dead Ringers.

There's a Korean DVD floating around with either the majority or all of the Criterion extras and the remastered Warner anamorphic transfer + DD5.1 remix track.

I have it around here somewhere, I could find it and check the region-coding status if you like.

Think these Telegraph ones were a mail in so may be in a plastic case rather than card sleeve, unless the seller has knocked one up themselves.
Price is also pretty steep for a newspaper freebie at £6

The Carlton official silver collection one is only £3.99 from

BlahDVD but that is confirmed non anamorphic widescreen.

Back to the inprint R1 from Warner although it is back catalogue may well NOT be R1,2,3,4 which they tend to only do on their worldwide rights films from North America, and in this case they only have US rights.

This Canadian "15th Anniversary Special Edition"
Amazon Canada
is basically a copy of the Criterion. It plays OK in my PC which suggests it isn't region-coded (though it's probably worth confirming that before buying).

But it's still a decent transfer and has the Criterion extras. If R1's out of the question it's the only real option.

and it's allegedley in David Cronenberg's preferred aspect ratio of 1.66:1 whereas the Warner release is 1.85:1
