HD DVD Layer changes?

Do we still get layer changes on HD DVD? Googled, but couldn't find anything.
I've watched 3 without seeing one but I just watched one now and the film paused for a second, then resumed with no sound for another second, then carried on OK. Is this a (bad) layer change? Or a faulty disc?

Good question!

They are dual-layer so there must be, but I don't know if there is a sufficent buffer to have no pause.

DVDs have a printed notice on the back cover informing the customer of the layer-change. AFAIK HD-DVD/Blu-Ray doesn't have these notices and I've never watched one that has a layer-change. Which film were you watching with the pause ? could be an disc error.

It was "The Frighteners". Since I posted I tried the bit again and it was fine, must have been a bit of dust!

They seem very sensitive to dust and fingerprints. Moreso than DVDs.
