Most pathetic DVD extra

My vote goes to the Jennifer Grey DVD Introduction on the Dirty Dancing Ultimate Edition

Anyone expecting some comments or reminiscences on the film will be sorely disappointed - she appears on camera & says:

"Welcome to the Dirty Dancing DVD. I hope you enjoy it."

Anyone know of any others as paltry as this?

yeah chapters/scene access is right up there with "Digitally Remastered" as a special feature.

Ridley Scott's miserable intro to Gladiator EE was pretty lame ("it's not a director's cut, I don't really like it, don't know why you bought it...". Ok, probably paraphrasing a bit, but you get the idea)

The most annoying extra ever has to be the 'Pitch Black Raveworld Event' on the original R1 Pitch Black disc. 30 minutes of footage of a bunch of ***** dancing to techno music. What the **** did that have to do with the movie?

It made me laugh when Disney used to advertise 'Full colour Artwork' on the DVD itself as an extra.

The extras on the 'Bachelor Party' DVD are dire. It's actually the same interview repeated over and over and over again.

The Pitch Black one is the worse one I have seen. I have seen several DVD's which have more than featurette and the same video segment is repeated in more than one just to fill the disc up.

Any of the artwork commentaries on the LotR 4 disc sets. But Harsin, hearing an artist describing the thoughts and process behind the designs should be quite interesting you say. This would be true except the bloke has a voice that would send an ADD kid to sleep after a multi-pack of orange smarties. See also any of the special effects features on the same discs with scary robot man Richard Taylor. Come to think of it New Line should have sprung to have pretty much everyone associated with the production dubbed over by Morgan Freeman or someone.

I;ve thought of another one. I was unlucky enough to buy the first Nouveaux release of Suspiria and the box promised a picture gallery. The picture gallery turned out to be the chapters menu.

Actually, as a genre, picture galleries generally tend to be the most pointless, esp when they're just stills from the film as opposed to posters and artwork.

The 'Disney Circle of Stars' singing 'Circle of Life' on the Lion King SE. It made me want to puncture my own eardrums.

I think "Trailers to Other Movies" or "Biographies" (not sure if that is what they are called) are the worst other than those already mentioned. The trailers annoy me as they are not a bonus feature but adverts. I mean ITV don't announce what adverts are coming up do they?

I agree. I do like them when they're done as a slideshow with the score over them though. Not done too often. The special edition of "Carrie" springs to mind.
