Help with surround sound

Just bought a Cambridge Azur 540r which I am connecting to my Panasonic DMR E500H via an optical cable (all new to me).

Everything works, the CD player in stereo and pseudo stereo and the TV in prologic, all 6 speakers, however.

When I change it to DVD all silent. I guess there must be a setting on the DVD player or on the receiver but I am at a loss and it has taken hours!

Any help appreciated.

It was the input select on the receiver - all working - sorry
