Help with wifi router - WRT54G - internet

I'm trying to use the internet using my crappy old laptop with a pcmci wifi card I just bought.

I've installed it and it picks up the router straight away with a excellent signal strengh. Trouble is I have no idea how to get the laptop to connect to the internet through the router??

Any help much appreciated.

Goto

Control Panel > Internet Options

Click on the connections tab

Click on Setup

On the Network Connection Wizard click on "to connect to a wireless...."

Thanks but no go.

The wireless connection is there. I can see it in networks.

Do I specify the ip address manually using the wireless network icon on the laptop? I've tried this but still no luck.

Windows XP.

i've noticed that on the laptop when I type "Ipconfig /all" it's not picking up a IP address. I'ce specified one in networks but it doesn't seem to help

Can anyone who has a wireless laptop setup to connect to the internet through a wifi router show what settings they have enabled?

No matter what I do I can't seem to get the laptop to pick up a ip address??

Did you install any drivers for the pcmia card?

On my setup under network connections and the "Wireless Networks" tab, the "Use windows to configure my wireless network settings" check box is NOT ticked. In available networks it has "3Com" listed which is my WAP.

On the router, are you broadcasting the SSID?
