Getting rid of windows messenger?

How do I get crappy windows messenger of my computer? The stupid thing is logging me in and i'm online all day without even realizing untill somebody pops up and a chat windwo opens, it's not even telling me i'm online, no icon nothing, not telling me it's bloody logging in, it's just doing it, grrrr.

Anyway I looked in add/remove programs and couldn't see it, how the hell do I remove this thing from my computer?

Thanks

Click on Start and on Run
In Run type RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove and click on OK

should remove it from your computer (assuming you have windows xp that is)

Or run msconfig and uncheck the messenger option to simply disable it from startup.

Or rename c:\Program Files\messenger to some other name and restart.

Or click on start and on Run
In Run type :-

C:\windows\inf\sysoc.inf

Scroll down to the list that begins msmsgs
Delete the word hide from this line

Go to add /remove programs and click on Add/Remove Windows Components

Should now see Messenger in the list

Uncheck the relevent check boxes

Am I the only one who has no problems with Windows Messenger at all?

All I did was disable it from starting up within the program itself and then disable the Contacts list within Outlook Express (In OE: View>Layout>Uncheck 'Contacts'), which I found also makes it spring into action. It has never bothered me since.
