Help name a classic film

I can't remember who is in it but it was black and white.

It was sent in Hong Kong I think and it was a really hot day or time of year and for some reason a bloke and a girl ended up sharign a flat because the other had no where else and there might have been a third person involved later.

In the end there was a running race I think with wo watching and one running.

Hopefully someone will know.
