probably a wise choice, pick complete thugs and the show wouldn't last past 3 weeks before it would be scrapped i'm sure
i have no doubt chris will be there till the end, or very near to. i knew couture simply wouldn't kick out a well trained fighter with a mouth over one who was a nice guy, but simply out of shape.
Top 3 fights should be good, loads of good fighters on the rest of the card, but sadly they aren't fighting each other- more cans on this card than in my local recycling dump Predictions in red.
Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic (Croatia) vs. Mark “The Hammer” Coleman (USA) Coleman
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (USA) vs. Murilo “Ninja” Rua (Brazil) Rampage
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (Brazil) vs. Alistair Overeem (Holland) Nog
Choi Mu Bae (Korea) vs. Sergei Kharitonov (Russia) Kharitonov
Igor Vovchanchyn (Ukraine) vs. Yoshiki Takahashi (Japan)Igor
Hirotaka Yokoi (Japan) vs. Mario Sperry (Brazil) Sperry
Hiromitsu Kanehara (Japan) vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (Brazil) Rua
Tom "Big Cat" Erickson (USA) vs. Fabricio Werdum (Brazil) Erickson
Kiyoshi Tamura (Japan) vs. Aliev Makhmud (Azerbaijan) Tamura-never heard of other guy

Personally dont think anyone can touch Fedor at the moment, but it could be an interesting fight. Will be hard enough for Crocop to get past Coleman-hence why I have went for Coleman to pull off a shock victory.
Just wish pride would try to get some young fighters with potential in the card, instead a bunch of no-hopers with lousy records.
Episode 5 of The Ultimate Fighter was probably the best yet.
There was no elimination fight this week, due to it all kicking off in the house after a drunken night out. After it was all discussed by Dana, Chuck and Randy, they decided on the only way to decide it. A grudge match fight between Alex and Chris L next week.
If they could get this kind of promotion behind their PPVs, they'd be mainstream in no time.

Some of those guys have real issues . Next week's fight should be good-Josh didn't look too keen on the idea though.
Apparently the finalists will fight on April 9th on normal free TV in the states, but they are also going to bring back the other guys to fight each other on the same card. Ken Shamrock vs Rich Franklin is going to be the main event on that show which should be interesting especially given that RF is moving up a weight class and KS is moving down. I'm a big fan of both guys.

I guess Shamrock was right about Tito Ortiz on the last PPV, when he said that Ortiz was only good at talking. That was the match that they wanted on the tv show, and Shamrock had agreed to it. This new fight will probably hurt the ratings a little, but Shamrock and the finals should keep them fairly strong.
The tv show this week was really weird. It was as if they were trying to switch the sympathy to Chris. It didn't really work for me, especially after he'd been mouthing off and bullying people for the past 4 weeks (especially the one who was eliminated first).
Also, Bobby Southworth has posted about the show on his website (they're only allowed to talk about things as far as they've been shown on tv). He claims that a lot of stuff was cut and edited to make the situation a lot more serious than it was.
rich'jim carrey'franklin will take shamrock out.i love shammy but cant help feeling he's past it and should retire as a legend.
I would be very surprised if that happened, Ken will be too strong for him imo.

Dont see what they could have put back in to make him look any better. Dont really like Chris as a person myself either and didn't feel sorry for him, but calling him the B word wasn't very classy from Bobby.

To be fair, this isn't the first time I've heard that events haven't exactly happened in the way they've been portrayed. I saw one quote from someone who knows what happens throughout the series, and he confirmed that they are using a lot of "poetic license".
I'm new to this MMA stuff. Not really seen anything (beyond a few clips d/l'd from some sites). I don't have Sky.
I saw that there is a programme on C5 late Tuesday evening described as:
"The very best in Muaythai rules fighting presented by Tasmin Lucia Khan. Highlights from a top UK promotion with the best in Thai and UK fighters"
Is this an interesting style? Worth setting the VCR for?
Josh fought a very smart fight and Chris showed a lack of any sort of ground game. Josh won by unanimous decision. I guess the rumous of Leben being around for a while were wrong
I have to say so far, considering these are supposed to be "the best unsigned mma fighters in the USA I'm unimpressed. I honestly can't see any of them making much of an impact in the UFC. Chuck, Randy, Tito et al would wipe the floor with any of these guys from what they've displayed so far.

Arthur,
in all honesty there is very little MMA on sky. The only channel that shows anything is Bravo - and up until recently that seemed to be on one week gone the next.
This month though Bravo have given the UFC an almighty push - its been on every night at 11pm & there is talk that they intend to show the next few UFC events on a 24hr delay from the US. Most people however d/l the events on the internet as they usually appear within a few days of the PPV being broadcast in the US. This also gives you access to Pride FC - the Japanese equivalent of the UFC.

The problem is that they aren't the best unsigned MMA fighters. They're the best unsigned MMA who have an educattion, no criminal record, and aren't on steroids (which is why a large number of the original candidates failed, and why there's no heavyweight division).
You can't be looking for comparisons to the current UFC superstars, though. To say that none of these would stand a chance against Couture, etc. is ridiculous. Of course, they wouldn't, which is why they're being trained by the best, rather than fighting them. Most of them have only been doing it for a year or so, and have a long way to go. Plus we haven't seen all of them fight yet.
As for the fight, Koscheck controlled him the whole way. I wouldn't say that Leben has no ground game (he was close to getting a keylock at one point), but he was far too obsessed with getting the knockout. As they said at the end, he lost the fight mentally, rather than physically.
Anyone know when Pride Fists of Fire is on US PPV?
Ultimate fighter 6 spoiler
Really shocked that Josh won the fight, Chris just never seemed to get going in the fight when they were standing and, for someone who trains with Randy Couture, I was surprised how weak he was on the ground- there were opportunities to sweep or standup, but he didn't take them. Be interested to see him fight again in April as all the guys seemed to think highly of him as a fighter, even though he was a complete jackass.

Pride PPV is on Friday night in the U.S., I believe (it was pre-empted this week, because all of the systems were showing the WWE PPV instead). I've had a quick look at the ten fights from the Japanese broadcast, and I wasn't impressed. It came across like a Bushido show.
Mark Coleman looked really old. I think its time for him to retire.
Ultimate Fighter
The thing with Josh is that, while he has a nervous look to him and hasn't fought a great deal in MMA, he has a great amateur wrestling background. So once its on the ground he can control the fight, unless he's against someone as skilled in wrestling/submission. I think he was underestimated by everyone. I'm guessing that either he or Diego will win the Middleweight division, and Bobby Southworth will win the light heavyweight (his performance after cutting a ridiculous amount of weight was very impressive). Having said that, we haven't seen the others fight yet. But these three seem to be getting the most amount of onscreen time.
I did think it was funny how Leben was complaining about Josh doing nothing to win the fight, though. The irony being that his trainer is Randy Couture, who has a similar background to Koscheck, and uses the same controlling tactics in his fights.
