There are plenty of RSS readers around that allow you to pick up RSS feeds and see when a new bit of content has been added. I use SharpReader . All you need to do is create an RSS feed for DVDT and then users can subscribe to it in their RSS reader. Very nice standard compliant way to do it I think

I use Serence Klipfolio, which does this sort of thing fairly well.

I've now got a RSS feed sorted. However, I'd like an tiny RSS reader that just pops up from the system tray without all of the other reader gubbins and allows the user to just click a link. I've tried SharpReader and it does far more than I need or want.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm using the excellent RSS Reader extension for Firefox. With a slight modification to make my sidebar appear on the right-hand side, which I find more comfortable.

I'm trying Feedreader at the minute. Looks as if it's simple and not overloaded. I'm just waiting for a new item to see what it does. Strangely the link on the homepage is for an Alpha release from last year but if you go to the forum it looks as if someone else has taken over development and has released some newer beta's on a different site.

Just had some new content and Feedreader plays a sound and displays a pop up above the clock with the headline as a clickable link. After a few seconds it disappears again.
The only problem I can see with it is that a RSS feed from another site that I know works ok doesn't seem to work in this.

I've been using the DVDTimes RSS Feed since it was introduced and also the CDTimes one but haven't got round to reporting this problem yet. RSSReader picks up the feed title, description and logo automatically, but for CDTimes it picks up the title, description and logo for the DVDtimes feed. Also, if I open any of the headlines for viewing it links to DVDTimes articles instead. Just though that after 2 months I should let someone know.
