Cool! I like him!

I never liked Mark Lamarr anyway - far too arrogant and sarcastic for my liking

Amstell was v.funny when on as a guest presenter. He definitely injected new life into the show (which felt a bit stale with lamarr).

Looking forward to that

it definately needed freshening up, Lamarr had got tiresome and repetitive

Thought Amstell was excellent last night - a perfect choice for the show.

When the new title sequence ran I was hanging my head in full expectation of it being awful with Mark Lamarr gone (even though I've always liked the new fella). Thankfully it was still pleasingly acerbic and the only real downside was Phil Jupitus's bald face!

Easily the funniest thing on BBC 2 last night, didn't get along with Jack Dee & Catherine Tate was amusing in places.

Amstell really picked up the mantle where Lamaar left off.

I missed it last night but will watch the repeat.... I'm glad they've got rid of Lamarr and his sarcastic comments!

I always thought that was part of his charm.

Haven't seen the new guy in Buzzcocks, but saw his standup last Friday and he was pretty funny (but he would be 'cos he's Jewish & gay)

Can't beat a load of comments like "didn't see it but hope he's funny". Thanks for playing.

Great start to the series. Made up for the lack of Extras on a thursday night.

Amstell seems to be a great choice for presenter. The way he completely mocked Anthea Turner and Ricky Ross was hilarious.

Biggest laughs for me were "Sorry I can't say that word because I don't have an umbrella" and (to Ricky Ross) "Paul Young's on next week, I actually know him"

Liked how Elisha in the intros round muttered that she wasn't very good at the song part and she'll just add a beat only to Simon to state that was all she did in Mystique anyway

Great episode last night.

I'm really liking Simon Astell as presenter. The way he just mercilessly takes the mickey out of every guest is hilarious.

Highlights for me were the letter at the start about the standard of guests, Jupitus's chat show with Vanessa and Matt and the Lily Allen joke

Cannot wait until the 16th when I'm going to see it filmed

Just watched last night's on the BBC site and thought it was quite funny.
I always liked Simon on Popworld anyway.
He's always had a good rapport with Matt Willis so we may see several of his Popworld friends popping up in future episodes.
