Despite having a list price of £59.99 according to the Warner press release, the slimmed-down 6 film R2 Signature Coll. is currently listed at £29.99 with a price of £23.99 at Play.com.

That's a huge misprice; and a great spot. Will they honour it?

I would guess It will depend on how many orders they receive before the mistake is noticed.
Has anyone received shipping confirmation from DVDSoon on the R1 box yet? A few days ago the quoted release date on the item page changed from the official Sep 7th to Sep 14th!

There seems to be a shortage or delay of the Hitchcock Signature Collection R1 box set. Has anyone had confirmation of despatch from any supplier?

Mine shipped on September 1 from Amazon.
Amazon has the set in stock as it says "usually ships within 24 hours".

N by NW in the new boxset is identical to the current R1 release, which is the same as the R2 except for the inclusion of a trailer featuring the master himself.

This would appear to be correct. I was communicating today with one of the WB reps regarding another issue and she advised me that they even ran out of screener copies for many of the various reviewers.

Yup; just had an email from dvdimport.com to say the box is late coming into stock and it will be another week or so yet. As for who is cheapest, I think it's a tie between dvdimport.com and dvdsoon.com (who have just hiked their price) at around $87 CAD. As to who is best at beating customs is another matter

The Beaver has gnawed on Foreign Correspondent as well. DVDTalk's review of Mr. & Mrs. Smith rates video and sound as excellent, making this a home run for Warner.

Checked my order at DVD Soon and they have it listed as "On Hand". Hopefully it'll ship in the next day or so

There are reports on the HTF that - at least from Canadian suppliers - all the discs in the set come in keep cases, except for NbNW which is in a snapper. Looks like Warners are dumping the last of the old stock of NbNW on the Canucks, and those that have bought from them. It's going to look a little out of place...
EDIT - shipped from dvdimport.com. Snapper or not, it's on it's way...

In his Film Noir-focussed Classics article posted today on The Digital Bits, Barrie Maxwell writes:
Quote:
MGM reports that the previously announced David Lean Collection has been delayed indefinitely due to rights issues. The forthcoming Alfred Hitchcock Collection is also now on hold, but is expected to appear in the new year.
|
It has been widely reported since yesterday that Sony (owners of Columbia Tristar) have agreed to buy MGM; perhaps the status of these collections will change again? In a table of 474 Noir titles provided by Maxwell, Suspicion, Shadow of a Doubt, Notorious, Strangers on a Train and The Wrong Man are included. Apart from these, there is no other mention of AH in the article.

DVDimport.com have just confirmed that their sets contain the snapper version of North by Northwest; no biggie.

I just got shipping confirmation from DVDSoon, so it isn't delayed by the looks of it.

Screw Star Wars: my Hitchcock box arrived this morning
Yes, the snapper edition of North by Northwest does (literally) stick out like a sore thumb, but that's a very minor irritation and easily solved. Where to start...

So did mine - this will ease the wait for Star Wars. Glad I ordered it from the US - can sell NxNW in the keep case and whack the R4 in (it gains the PAL piccy at the expense of the Hitchcock trailer).
(I started with Stage Fright)
