If your existing thermostat is on a standard backplate - which it probably will be if installed in the last 25 years - hive installation takes about 10 minutes.

Yeh we got one, I don't think the install took long at all and it's a fairly ancient boiler. Not sure I'd have fancied giving it a go myself though.
