Potentially dumb question here, but I can't get a straight answer through searching online (too much SEO keyword ******** out there these days).

I want to use Bootable USB drives from time to time (Linux LiveCD etc), but since upgrading to a new motherboard/CPU earlier this year I've found that all I get is 'Secure Boot Violation'.

Everywhere says 'disable secure boot' but my question is - can I just 'enable secure boot' after I'm done and everything will work as normal? Windows won't throw a hissy fit?

Should be fine, but Windows might not boot while that option is disabled.

OK I'll give it a shot. You're to blame if it doesn't work

You'll never find me!

It's a bit like if you change the disk mode from IDE to AHCI and vice versa, Windows won't boot but change it back to the original setting in the BIOS and Windows will then boot again.

It worked

I kinda thought that was the case but then came across things to do with recovery keys and what have you.

At least I can boot into custom recovery environments again. Now to find something that will actually let me secure erase my old Crucial SSD.

I've had secure boot switched off for a while now. It's the only way that my Nvme can become visible and bootable on my older mobo (via pcie adapter).

Cripes, that's annoying - I've usually 20+ tabs open, and don't want to fight through them when alt-tabbing...

What a crazy idea. I'm using Edge as my main browser these days but I do not want that
