...useless and toothless, this present United team is just so much 'less'!!!
...I can see us having difficulty in hanging on to 2nd spot if this lacklustre form continues!

The thing is we never really strengthen where we need to. Imagine someone like Aguero, Silva or even Swarez at United. Instead we invest in unproven talent of which only 1 or 2 ever look like making it. As much as I love Fergie to bits and he's 100% the right man for the job, I'm sick f hearing that there's " no ******* value in the market"

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.

What a scandalous decision
Gotta love the double standards as well on MotD. If that hairline offside decision would have been against Newcastle at the end it would have been analysed to death by Shearer and co - but as it was, it didn't even get a mention post-match.
It's United though so I guess we're not allowed to moan about decisions.

No, but you're allowed to moan about not being allowed to moan about decisions.

would you prefer to hear that we simply can't afford/attract the players we need? because that's the only alternative, unless you feel fergie is actively sabotaging his own team?
...to the match: yet another uninspired performance.

The Da Silvas might as well be sent to the glue factory. If both start a game there's little hope of them both finishing it.
Stunning strike by Ambrose.
Valencia should be at RB not Park.

Lets face it, you put a team like that out in a quarter final you can have no complaints about going out! Where's the experienced quality players?
...this season just gets better and better!!!

This is what happens when you don't learn your lessons from the year prior. Notably when West Ham trashed us 4-0 in the Carling Cup because Fergie thought we'd get through with the reserve team.
You only have to look at the bench before the game to see how much he underestimated Crystal Palace.
The only player who's looked like scoring for us the whole game is Gibson... says it all really. Shocking.

Fergie has played a weak team in this competition for the last 10-15 years, why the **** would you expect him to change his policy now?
We've been awful, apart from a short spell after the second half, but if we end up out of the Carling Cup then I'm not going to lose a lot of sleep. Far bigger match coming up in a week.
Christ, some people only ever pop up on this thread in the bad times - compared to a lot of teams we really aren't doing too badly.

But it wasn't that weak a team on paper. That starting team should be good enough to put up a fair fight against half of the EPL for goodness sake. The problem was a majority of the starters are either having a poor season or have barely played for the first team.
The truth of the fact is we lost to a Championship side, at Old Trafford and Fergie deemed it unnecessary to put a 'wildcard' on the bench that could potentially turn it around if it went pear shaped.

Fergie put out a full strength team in the 2nd leg of the cup against Manchester City at Old Trafford a couple of years ago?

He tends to strengthen as the competition goes on, but the team out tonight - while understrength - should've been able to do the job, however good Palace were.

That was purely because it was a semi against City. The team he put out in the QF against Spurs that year was far more like his normal Carling Cup teams.
