The Changeling
Been looking for a decent movie for Halloween night - that I've not seen!
Any views on "The Changeling" and if there is a decent DVD version? The UK R2 (which I didn't even know was released!) looks alright - how's the quality?
Looking for something to go with "Audrey Rose" as a double bill type deal!
cheers
Richie

The changeling is an excellent film, it has a highly deserved rating of 7.0 on imdb. Very atmospheric and creepy. No idea about the DVD tho'.

cheers RT.
seems the R1 disc is barebones, whereas the R2 has director commentary etc.
I just want it uncut (if that's any kind of issue with this film - it's a 15?) and the best possible presentation - so if anyone has this R2 can you let me know what the quality is like?

I've got the R2 version, the quality is good. I liked it, quite creepy, worth a watch.

One of my favourite horror films. I've the R1 which has a decent anamorphic picture but no extras.

This film shows that all you need to make a scary scene is a bouncing ball !!

...ahh... yes! I remember now... the bouncing ball... also the increasingly loud, hollow banging noises... this was indeed one very creepy movie...!...

Just don't expect an effects laden, all action movie and you will be fine.
It is very much story driven and slowly builds up a creepy and disturbing atmosphere.
Some of my mates who are into the Scream/IKWYDLS/Valentine type films found it boring

More than anything I LOVE a movie that is all about atmosphere. Think of the original "The Haunting", "The Others", "Ring", "Repulsion" etc.
What I really want on dvd (other than "The Haunting" - which is on TCM in OAR on Halloween night!) is "The Innocents" from 1961. It's one of those films that despite hearing lots about, I've never seen anywhere! Can't decide whether to read "The Turn of the Screw" or just wait in vain!
