I think that's right. I think I saw 242 stars quoted, and when playing it I can't see how 240 would fit in, so I think it's something that must kick in once you get 120. I'm guessing they'll just be the original stars but with a slight modification - speed-run, low health, or a mirrored level? A bit like the prankster stars.

I'd love to but I didn't have to pay for it with them so kinda hoping they're shipping date is merely incorrect. have sent them an email anyway.

30 stars and 3 worlds in and it's pretty hard to fault. Level design is sublime and it looks and sounds pretty great to boot (the music on the level select screens is particularly good).

If I had to gripe, I'd go with:

1) Story still annoys me. Pushing A through letters from princesses and mushrooms and all other manner of rubbish on your starship after practically every other star you collect is still happening quite far into the game.

2) As with Mario 64, Mario Sunshine and Galaxy 1 before it, I really wish you could pick up multiple stars on each level. I know on some levels that's simply not possible, but the ones where it is, I really wish you could (eg. got a secret star from a monkey challenge down a pipe on one level, but was booted back to the menu after instead of letting me carry on for the main star).

3) Motion controls are quite irritating. Running around on a star ball is one example, and there is one other instance where you have to wave the wiimote around to guide mario that I can't quite recall the specifics of.

I agree that the whole story/level select could be a lot more streamlined. It's like they went half-way to doing a more Super Mario Bros. Wii level select system but then still kept a 3D spaceship which is more of a gimmick compared to the hub for the first game. But compared to Super Paper Mario which had so much text to get through, I don't really have a problem with the story text - it is Mario and it's par for the course.

The spaceship you get kicked back to after each star is the major annoyance for me. Cut that out (and just have you kicked back to the level select map) and in turn you cut out all the sidekick characters that speak to you so frequently.

Up to around 60 stars now and some of the stars to get are utter ************. On the Chomp level where you become Spring Mario, you are guaranteed to pull your hair out, I think it took me about 15 goes to just execute a few seemingly simple jumps.

A few of the time challenges are hard too, much harder than anything you got in Mario 64, where all 120 stars were relatively straight forward.

On 2nd Galaxy in World 3. The only really hard levels so far were the Dragon/Snake-type baddie at the end of World 1 and the silly monkey race somewhere in World 2.

I don't quite understand why Worlds are split into Galaxies... surely it should be the other way around? Or maybe call them Universes instead of Worlds.

I agree it would be better if you could skip all story scenes and just play the game from the World Select map.

Apart from that, fantastic game. Even better than the first (and that was awesome).

I bought one - sat under my TV for 18 months, then I sold it again.

The novelty wears off unbelievably quickly.

Not with games like this it doesn't.

Easily better than anything the PS3 or Xbox has to offer.
