The Walking Dead S4 - US Pace **SPOILERS** (No comic spoilers please)

New thread for Series 4 which started last night on US TV for those lucky enough to be able to fly over on the weekends to watch it.

From season 3 thread:

TB perhaps?

Rick's trek was a waste of time IMO

Good to see that Rick's stupidity is still unabated. Giving strange Oirish ladies knives is always a plus point.

Pretty good start for a Season opener. Still plenty of issues (not only character based but also budgetary - the crappy CGI plane falling through the roof was the main culprit). It's a shame since the zombie rain-storm had genuine promise and some nice FX moments prior to plane time.

But far more importantly Cutty and D'Angelo Barkside can now form the union they were denied on The Wire!

Agreed - I thought the rain storm section was really well done, getting caught up in the wiring, ricocheting off stuff etc. Those bodies had real weight to them.

Looks like there's disease to be fought back too now. First the pig, now Patrick (glasses). With anyone possible to drop dead at any time, who can be considered safe?

Also watched the talking dead thing after the show - no real spoilers aside from 'It's going to get real bad real fast' (for the group I hope, not us)

There's going to be another break after the first 8 episodes, just like last season.

Very enjoyable first episode back. Loved hearing a full on, undiluted Tipperary accent in the mix too.

Loved the roof collapse bit. Serious crunchiness.

good opener apart from stupid Rick. I was reminded a little of the Harrods Xmas Sale when all the bodies started flying in

Do we need the "no comic spoilers" thing? The show has deviated from the comic so much now as for it to be a bit of an irrelevance.

How did the half zombie get on the roof? Spider-Zomb?

My guess he was chopped up by the helicopter.

Maybe this a foolish thing to say based on having just seen the premiere. But this was the first ever Walking Dead show I couldn’t at least roughly place in the chronology of the comic. Have you made a decisive break with that mythology?

There’s a lot of new elements at play here but we’re definitely still dealing with a lot of things from the comic book.... the rest snipped

Rick being an idiot? Check
Terrible CGI? Check
Annoying kids? Check
Bad acting? Check
Side characters who somehow act far, far worse? Check

Yep! The Walking Dead's back

All I'm hoping is those kids don't last, it's never a good thing when adult shows do that. Carl's bad enough

Talking Dead mentioned that the theme for this season is children and adults growing up, so expect plenty of kids and adults 'coming to terms' with stuff.

I think this may have gone past the point of no return for me. I'd hoped the new showrunner may have turned things around after the diabolically bad third season finale, but I guess not. I'll stick with it for a few more episodes but that's probably just delaying the inevitable.

OK, so there's a sick pig, let's just wait and see if it gets better, or wait, should we ask Hershel (the retired vet) to check it out? Nahh!

what disease did speccy kid have that nobody notice? starts with a cough and nausea, suddenly it's some kind of zombie Ebola??

crazy looking oirish chick turns out to be a crazy oirish chick... shocker...

which disposable newbie is going to die by zombie rain?? the new black guy? oops, no, it's Hershel's soppy daughter's new beau... oh well...

at least Daryl still rocks!

That just reminds me of just how awesome the whole of season 1 was and just how awful season 2 was.
