Well I gave up on strike back until a work colleague told me I may like what happened towards the end of the most recent season.

As an added bonus you also get Trevor Eve doing a really bad jack Nicholson

Still enjoying Waco and also The Alienist.

I agree the Alienst is not must watch TV, but I enjoy it and it feels like a 19th Century Mindhunter albeit nowhere near as good.

Great cast including the likes of Jeff Daniels, Peter Sarsgaard & Alec Baldwin. Apparently Amazon Prime have it starting the day after the US broadcast...
Finished Waco, which I thought was excellent. Straight into The looming tower and so far it feels like another great show. Thanks for the heads up about this one.

I quite enjoyed Life Sentence. Much better than expected & if you'd made it past the 2 minute mark, you'd have seen the 'oh so spirited in the face of terminal illness' was a misdirection & it's all about what happens when it turns out your terminal illness isn't terminal after all & your entire family has been lying to you for the last 8 years to keep you happy.

It probably helped that the lead girl is quite cute & Dylan Walsh is always good value for money. The British husband needs to go ASAP though.

Hmmm, Deception for me was mildly entertaining at the beginning but with so many things wrong with it, by the end I loathed it & immediately dumped it from my watch-list. On top of Mr White's criticisms above, I'd add an annoying lead you just want to punch & an unattractive female lead with zero charisma.

However, I'm sure my mum will love it & keep me updated with its progress before inevitably being cancelled..

Thankfully the other recent new show, The Looming Tower has been very impressive so far. Excellent acting throughout (Daniels obviously being the highlight), intriguing subject matter & good production values. My only small grumble is I'm all for character development but there's maybe a little too much personal-life on show & not enough actual main plot, which should be the focal point...

Enjoyed Deception. Utter nonsense, but it filled the Mentalist gap quite nicely.

New sitcom Champions created by Mindy Kaling (who also cameos) is absolutely dire. Every single character is completely charmless & the pilot didn't even raise a smile. Avoid.

Despite its flaws, I still enjoyed the For the People opener & it comfortably remains on my watch-list. I agree it does feel like it's been artificially crafted to appeal to every demographic & the main case was frustratingly preachy & lacked any depth, but I thought the dialogue was sharp & it made me chuckle multiple times.

I love a good lawyer show & this doesn't come close to the best (Good Wife, Boston Legal & L.A. Law) but did enough to keep me entertained for 40 minutes...

Have to strongly disagree regarding Counterpart. I think it has gone from strength-to-strength & easily remains my favourite show running at the moment. The recent episodes that have highlighted the complex "Claire" character have been fascinating & I find her much more interesting than Sara Serraiocco's character who initially was intriguing but now just seems to be in the show to meet Starz's "Boobs!!!" episode quota...

I'm not sure if it's the way it's shot in shades of beige & grey, or the way every single scene seems to be dragged out beyond breaking point, but Rise, about a high school drama program, was a miserable way to spend 43 minutes. I'm a fan of Josh Radnor, but even he couldn't make me watch another episode.

Couldn't find a more relevant thread but ... I know Seth got lots of stars to do cameos on The Orville, but getting Sir Ian McKellen to do Family Guy takes some beating.

Oh dear! Instinct was so dull, bland & generic in every department. Cumming is always watchable but that's not enough to save this show. It felt like I was watching a random season four episode of Elementary, which was the last season I watched of that show as it had grown completely stale by then.

Another show my Mum will enjoy but for me, it is banished from my watch-list...

Yep, my expectations for Instinct were lowered considerably when I saw James Patterson's name in the credits & I guessed the killer about halfway through (never a good sign), but 'dull, bland & generic' pretty much sums it up. I spent most of the running time trying to think where I'd seen Bojana Novakovic before (looking on IMDB, it was Irish horror flick The Hallow).

Hopefully they've got the plot to Patteron's 'book' out of the way now & the writers can come up with something a bit more interesting...

She is certainly looking forward to Station 19 that begins later this week, as she loves Chicago Fire & 9-1-1.

I have to agree with The Good Doctor which has dipped in quality in the last few episodes & reinforces the argument that pumping out 22+ episodes a season almost never works and the quality suffers...

That is encouraging news regarding The Crossing as last year when it was first announced, that did sound like the new Network show with the most potential & it was very surprising that it's not been shown until next month...

Second episode of For the People took a dip in quality & suffered the same issue that trying to squeeze in three different cases in 40 minutes just doesn't work. The ratings took an even bigger dip & it's almost definitely going to be cancelled...

It doesn't really help that almost all the characters in For the People are completely unlikeable/smug/punchable (deleted as applicable), especially the guy who brought his senator mum into work this week, who's all three.

Britt Robertson's pretty much the only reason to keep watching.
