DeadYankee was probably talking about Trump rather than Hitler. Who knows maybe Hux had a father who got wealthy from real estate

Hux got to where he is by being an arse kisser and a back stabber. Can’t say I’ve ever thought it was anywhere near unbelievable.

While Hux didn't work for me in TFA, I found he really clicked in Last Jedi and I enjoyed all his scenes. It made him far more believable and portrayed him as the idiot that he is.

I'm not seeing why Hux is so hard to believe at all. There have been and there are still many snivelling, inept idiots with no idea of what they are doing in positions of power in real life. Everyone must know at least one person who has climbed to the top by getting in with the right people rather than on merit. So I'm not sure why is it hard to believe that it's possible in a piece of fiction?

For me I think that Snoke wants to surround himself with sycophants who will do his bidding without question. It doesn't matter if Hux's personality actually conveys any authority because everyone knows if they don't do as he says then Snoke will deal with them. Snoke obviously thought that Kylo Ren was that type of person as well but, in his arrogance, he seriously misjudged him. Similarly, the Emperor got arrogant and assumed he had Darth Vader wrapped around his little finger and paid with his life as well. The whole point of The Last Jedi is that the same types of people (on both sides) are making the same errors time and time again and only those smart enough have realised it. Luke has realised and Kylo Ren has as well.

I think that's right, although Rian Johnson did a rather shoddy job of conveying that sentiment.

Come to think of it, Yoda et al might be mistaken in assuming that the so called "Balance within the Force" is something between the Jedi and the Sith. It might be something to do with having the full potential of the Force and yet be able to live life like a normal human or alien being, with all the normal emotions that go with it. Being too detached might be the reason why the Jedi have not managed to completely defeat the Sith or their successors.

That is why I think Rey is the Chosen One.

Because I didn't believe Domhnall Gleeson as Hux.

Don't really agree with the ending, but that was pretty funny!
