DeadYankee was probably talking about Trump rather than Hitler. Who knows maybe Hux had a father who got wealthy from real estate

Hux got to where he is by being an arse kisser and a back stabber. Can’t say I’ve ever thought it was anywhere near unbelievable.

While Hux didn't work for me in TFA, I found he really clicked in Last Jedi and I enjoyed all his scenes. It made him far more believable and portrayed him as the idiot that he is.

I'm not seeing why Hux is so hard to believe at all. There have been and there are still many snivelling, inept idiots with no idea of what they are doing in positions of power in real life. Everyone must know at least one person who has climbed to the top by getting in with the right people rather than on merit. So I'm not sure why is it hard to believe that it's possible in a piece of fiction?

For me I think that Snoke wants to surround himself with sycophants who will do his bidding without question. It doesn't matter if Hux's personality actually conveys any authority because everyone knows if they don't do as he says then Snoke will deal with them. Snoke obviously thought that Kylo Ren was that type of person as well but, in his arrogance, he seriously misjudged him. Similarly, the Emperor got arrogant and assumed he had Darth Vader wrapped around his little finger and paid with his life as well. The whole point of The Last Jedi is that the same types of people (on both sides) are making the same errors time and time again and only those smart enough have realised it. Luke has realised and Kylo Ren has as well.

I think that's right, although Rian Johnson did a rather shoddy job of conveying that sentiment.

Come to think of it, Yoda et al might be mistaken in assuming that the so called "Balance within the Force" is something between the Jedi and the Sith. It might be something to do with having the full potential of the Force and yet be able to live life like a normal human or alien being, with all the normal emotions that go with it. Being too detached might be the reason why the Jedi have not managed to completely defeat the Sith or their successors.

That is why I think Rey is the Chosen One.

Because I didn't believe Domhnall Gleeson as Hux.

Don't really agree with the ending, but that was pretty funny!

The deleted scenes from The Last Jedi Blu-Ray have been posted up to YT (wont post the links).... as well as a separate deleted scene with Tom Hardy as a Stormtrooper....

Some of the deleted scenes probably could have benefitted being in the film, but I tried watching the film again (ok, dodgy copy) and the same things that annoyed me first time still annoy me about it, and I struggled to get through it.

I loved TFA, and R1 grew on me over time, but this one could take a while to win me over.

We watched it again, the girlfriend still liked it but from me as a life long Star Wars film it felt like watching a bad SpaceBalls knock off rather than a Star Wars film. Unfortunately it's completely removed my anticipation of watching any new SW films from this point which is a shame as Rogue One was great.

Film wise George Lucas definitely did the right thing in only releasing 6 films and not over saturating it. Disney don't seem to get Star Wars at this point which is strange as the MCU is still knocking out entertaining films even nearly 20 films in.

Exactly how I feel regarding the films.

The Luke outtakes would especially have benefited the film. None of them could save it though. Seeing what was cut and what was left in only makes it worse.

I still can't decide if I like it or not.

It just doesn't feel like a Star Wars film and the whole thing is a little depressing really.

But taken on their own there are many individual parts to the film which I think are brilliant.

In the end I just don't think it works as a follow-up to The Force Awakens.

If you have the time (around 5 hours in three parts), watch Mauler's critique of the The Last Jedi on Youtube. It really sums up how dumb this film is and how Disney has no clue.

Yep, there was a definite misstep in tone in that clip. Could have been okay if handled in a less frat house kinda way.

I watched this on Saturday night, turned it off with an hour to go as I realised I was looking at my phone more than the film. As a Star Wars film it is ****.

As a science fiction film it is also ****.

Basically, it's ****.

On second viewing via Bluray, my opinion of TLJ has improved a little; the Casino part is still unnecessary and the opening humor with Poe and Hux was meh.

Did not seem to drag this time. and I even liked the Porgs:

The opening craw though looked different from the others can't put my finger on it; not sure if its the angle or the font.

It looks fine to me, but the score over the opening crawl (in both TLJ and TFA) sounds all kinds of wrong to me. No idea why, they managed to get it right for the prequels.
