We weren't particularly good at all - but 3 points is all that we needed (especially with the United result).

Maybe we were all subdued wondering how Valencia didn't get sent off for the same tackle that Mane saw red for

we weren't good but still should've won by 4 at least. Salah,Mane,Lallana all guilty of missing good chances second half.

Nah - that can't be right. Apparently we were idiots to let me him leave in January

Blimey - and I thought our result was good last night!

As an aside, Roy Evans was interviewed on R5L this afternoon and he seems to think that Klopp is doing a decent job and that you'll be challenging for trophies over the next few years.

No disciplinary action against Firmino for Holgate allegation

http://www.thefa.com/news/2018/feb/2...ecision-210218

Will they do anything about the ridiculous push into the stands now? I doubt it.

Of course they won't. He is English. Instead he is actually vindicated, and praised, by the FA for incorrectly accusing an opponent of racial abuse.

You'll also notice the FA statement says there was 'insufficient evidence to charge Firmino' ( implying they were desperate to find him guilty ) rather than there was no evidence to back up Holgate's claim ( as that would confirm he was lying )

I appreciate you have an agenda but it reads as though Firmino said something offensive, but not racist, in Portuguese, which Holgate misunderstood/misheard.

There shouldn't be any doubt about what the FA statement says, but they've left it open to interpretation, which is very wrong.

There are Everton fans on various sites stating that as the FA have supported Holgate's claim was "made in absolute good faith" then Firmino absolutely said something racist, but it just couldn't be corroborated.

I'm sure (as I can be from the TV footage) that Holgate just misheard, but the FA 'explanation' has left Firmino with the spectre of racism over him when he effectively just swore at Holgate for being pushed over a metal barrier.

Exactly .... the statement says that none of other 12 witnesses ( including the ref ) nor the independent lip readers backed Holgate's claim but at no point does it say that Holgate was wrong instead it states he "acted in good faith". The statement goes out of its way to totally clear the accuser but makes minimal effort ( if any ) to clear the innocent accused.

The only thing that statement implies is ... we believe Firmino did it ( based purely on what our English boy alone claims ) but we just can't prove it. Quite frankly it sets a precedent now that anyone can play the race card anytime they like and then simply say they misheard it without any fear of punishment.

But then .... nothing surprises me with the FA anymore.

Alternatively, Firmino has no case to answer here but we don’t want to deter other people from reporting racist abuse if you could then face punishment if you’re wrong.

Except the FA seem to go to great lengths to NOT say that.

How about "there is zero evidence to back up Holgate's claim" or actually stating "Firmino has no case to answer"? That would have left no room for doubt whatsoever nor discouraged anyone else. It was perfectly easy to completely exonerate Firmino ( which, based on none of other witness statements agreeing with Holgate, they should have done ) without discouraging anyone else.

The fact that it took them 6 weeks to come to the same conclusion everyone with eyes came to within hours tells you all you need to know.

It's not really the FA's fault, it's the society we live in now.
You can say what you like to someone, but as soon as it is percieved to have any racist connotations it suddenly becomes a huge issue

What is perceived as racist?

Firmino said something and Holgate accused him of saying something completely different not that what Firmino said was racist ie Holgate misheard not misperceived.
