My LG G4 had the boot loop as did my other half's Nexus 5x. Don't think I'd trust an LG mobile any time soon.

My Nexus 4 was great, shame the nexus range was killed off.

Apart from a few brands like xiamoi and couple of others, this cheap chinese phones are ****. Somewhere I use to work had a new Umi phone and after a month it barely worked, battery would drop rapidly and some times just rebooted when using the camera iirc

I made the move to a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 in June and it's marvelous. Such good value.

My opinion may change should something bad happen!

Mine was still good until I dropped it and smashed the screen. My other half, in between phones at the mo, is using her Google Nexus 1 and it's still a capable smart phone despite being hampered by an old operating system.

I've got one of those and I can't fault it. People complain about the camera, but I don't think they checked the settings which for reason is set to standard by default. Change it to high and it takes lovely pictures with hdr. Obviously not the best camera in the world, but it's a phone

Hmm. Only reason I'm here is my LG G3 just died to a blue screen.

So frustrating that it sporadically will boot to the recovery menu and start a reinstall but die within a minute or so.

Now back on a galaxy S2 until I find a new one.

Lol. I'm using my old S4 at the minute too!

GSMArena has a great advanced search option which let's you find EXACTLY the phone you want. Personally I want as big a battery as I can get, with it being removable if possible as I like to have a spare, and reasonable other specs. I thought I had found the perfect one in the Chinese made Gionee M6 Plus (non-removable 6000mah battery but who cares when it's that big!!), but it seems it's not available to buy anywhere in the UK or even on eBay for that matter. Bizarre.

I eventually found the Acer Liquid Z6 Plus which has a removable 4000mah battery and is only £175 at the minute, which seems to fit the bill.

Neither have I either. They test the phones before they send them out I think..

i recently got a moto g5 (upgraded from 1st gen moto g) and i'm very happy with it - but then i'm not really a "power user".
Ive seen no problems with quality but then Im not buying £40 phones. Even the Doogee X5 I got for my Housemates kids 2yrs ago for £40 are still going strong but things have moved on in the last 2yrs.

Since 2014,Ive used and still got

Lenovo K3 Note(K50T5)
InFocus M560
Le Max2 X829
ZTE Axon 7
Vernee Thor.

The 1st 4 were all imported and the Thor off Ebay.

The 2 UK phones I still have are
Moto G 4G 1st Gen
and
Moto X 2nd Gen (2014)

Both are excellent but limited.

It's still better to do that than to bin the phone though. I'll just sell it on once it's fixed and buy another phone I think, as it's a known issue with my model.
I wouldnt go near LG phones either as thats a few phones that have had the same bootloop issues... If LG werent such pigs on fixing them (from what Ive read) then it wouldnt be such a problem but I'll just keep to TV's & Monitors by LG.

The Redmi Note 5 is out soon, rumours are it will have either a snapdragon 660 or 630, 3 or 4gb Ram*, 32/64gb* storage (*depending on whether it's the 660 or 630), micro sd slot, 5.5" screen and a whopping 3790mAh battery.

Pre-order the 630 versionhere for £147

Some advice please

Thinking of getting a XIAOMI Mi A1 4G Phablet Global Version - BLACK

e.g. https://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_757529.html

Advice from users of this phone - happy with it? - reviews suggest its got a slight edge over the moto G5s plus which was my other consideration @ £227

Purchasing choices for the A1...

Previous posts about Gearbest suggested selecting delivery options to ship to a UK or EU warehouse and then checking and onward shipping.

I can't see such an option at Gearbest? £176.01 or with expedited shipping from HK £182

Other possible suppliers:

I've used eGlobal Central in the past £189.99 in black or £179.99 in gold

I see the same phone for slightly less at DealExtreme £168 direct from china
http://www.dx.com/p/xiaomi-mi-a1-and...2481868?tc=GBP

Another company I hadn't heard of offers shipping from an EU warehouse but for considerably more money $281

The only reason I'm even considering the chinese phone is because it is part of 'android one' so is updated by google direct OTA. Vanilla android, no skin/apps

Use the Priority Line Shipping. Its called British Express..
Ive just ordered stuff from Gearbest before and always used the Priority Line/British Express. They ship to UK for you to a shipping agent and then Yodel pick it up in UK and deliver to you.

Direct shipping from HK is by Post direct from HK. Possibility of being hit by customs.

Expedited is DHL so you definitely will get hit by Customs.

I always Use the Middle option and I see they now do a EU Express as well as UK Express.

Update on my G4. After a year of no response from LG, I wrote them a snotty email saying how disappointed I was with the company and how they had handled the boot loop problem. They then got back to me, apologised and now I'm sending it in for repair for free (though I'm hoping it's a replacement upgrade that some customers have had). If nothing else, it's a spare mobile in case I smash my Moto Z Play screen again.

But I almost pulled the Credit Card out.

Thanks

The problem was that this delivery option did not appear initially.
Delivery was set to united kingdom but only offerred a few other options.

Manually setting the drop down to UK then refreshed the list of options to include British Express etc.

Now ordered. Lets hope the phone is a good one

'Er indoors has had enough of her Windows phone and wants to switch to an android.

Any thoughts on the Lenovo P2?

£159 from Gear Best

Good battery life.

Bad for OS updates according to a few posts up.

Edit: Gone for it using the shipping advice above. Cheers!

Not a cheap phone but I just bought a xiaomi mi mix 2 from Gearbest, I use the expedited with DHL, nice phone if a bit quirky with its front camera at the bottom.

Expect to get hit by Customs then.

End Of Oct and still nothing yet. I'll email them tomorrow. Never had it take this long before via OneWorld Express if they are still using them.
