Investment: Lakes Distillery - EIS/Crowdcube/Investing Generally, any experience?

Hi All

https://www.lakesdistillery.com/inve...ortunity-i4666

I like whisky, I like this whisky and really like what they've done with it as a tourist attraction (and also their sister site on Arran).

Anyone had any experience of similar investments?

I'm aware that it could all go tits up, but under the EIS rules I'd get tax relief when I invest and if I make a loss will get tax relief, meaning I'd probably lose about 40% if it goes wrong.

Probably only looking to invest £750 or so, otherwise it isn't worth the hassle of the tax relief.

Anyone got any experience of investing in this way? I've been tempted in the past by some decent returns on Brewdog, etc.

If I knew nothing about the company, I wouldn't touch it. But they're also into the gin, etc. which seems to be the in thing at the moment.

Thanks for any thoughts

Interesting and I will have a good read.

I'd have to check but I don't think the Brewdog returns are anywhere near the spin they give on it and it's more of a membership scheme than an investment vehicle. Happy to be proved wrong on that though.

I'm not massively seeing how money can be got from it tbh, they're valuing the company at £45m, I think at best they might get bought out by someone and I might double my money or something.
