Loved the way the credits rolled on this one.

I think that's the way Kanan set it up after having his vision, he knew that that they had no chance to complete the mission the way they'd planned.

Some of the writing in this series has had more depth and emotion than possibly anything in the movies excluding Jedi and Empire. If Dave Filoni and the writers have not proven themselves capable/worthy of a live action Star Wars adventure I don't know who has.

Wow, watched all four of the after the break episodes, and each pair has left me a bit weepy. Really good episodes. And I liked that I'd recently been watching the Clone Wars cartoons so I recognised the 3 characters in the painting on the Jedi temple.

Are people talking about the US-pace episodes in spoilers? I'm scared to look!

Now the show has come to an end, I wouldn't put it past Disney to continue the story in some other medium. Based on the target age group, I'd say young adult novel or maybe comics.

It was a great ending to a series that definitely got better as it continued. I'm glad I stuck with it, I remember being not too sure after watching the first few episodes.

I'm glad they choose to end it properly unlike Clone Wars, the unfinished season 6 does not make up for the fact it was cancelled early.

Kudos for getting original actors to reprise their roles Ian McDiarmid sounded more like the Emperor here than he did in Revenge of the Sith. Its a shame they didn't get him to do clone wars Tim Curry was not a good replace for Ian Abercrombie.

Still there are questions unanswered

I can't help but feel a bit underwhelmed by the finale. It all ended in a predictable shoot out that feels like it could have occurred at any point in the show's run. And on top of that, the Rebel's entire plan seemed to rely on the fact that stormtroopers will never be able to shoot them (the assault opens with Zeb running across an open platform being shot at from all sides, and never once being hit). There are moments where the stormtroopers miss from near point blank range.

There was some great stuff too. The ending with Thrawn and Ezra was exciting - although I was assuming
, but the show suggests otherwise. A decent enough explanation for why they never appeared through the original trilogy, and a good opportunity to see them again at some point.

The less said about Hera's magic baby the better though - when did that happen? Kanan died seconds after they finally shared their first kiss and they certainly didn't get busy at any other point. A major let down from Rukh too, whom I was expecting to have a far better story arc based on his deep character from the old books.

As a whole, I have really enjoyed Rebels. Certainly a MUCH better show than Clone Wars, thanks mostly due to the focus on a single group of characters and (mostly) location. Ezra was never the best character to follow, but Kanan, Hera and Sabine were consistently great. I'm really glad that Ahsoka was reintroduced too, but there's a lot of questions left with her still.

I had no memory of the space whales, but apparently they were in season 2.

And here's the first info on the next animated series, Star Wars Resistance. Premieres this autumn.
It's going to be all about fighter pilots! Star Wars Top Gun, along the lines of the old X-Wing novels maybe?
