I was close to the front but it involved getting there early and not going to the loo..... :-)

I hate being back in these crowds, surrounded by people talking, videoing the show, etc....I find stadium shows just as bad. I'd rather not go than fork out a fortune to be half a mile from the stage watching video screens.

I went to see Pearl Jam last night at the O2 - a got a cheap (ish) ticket - and whilst near the back, the sound and view was fantastic.

Probably the last band I wanted to see that are still around, aside from perhaps Portishead.

Yep, same here - PJ last night. Amazing. Saw them once before at Wembley Arena but that must be >10 years ago and I wasn't as in to them as I am now. Ok, Eddie Vedder can go on a bit between songs but that was pretty much a 3 hour show.

Got Mankind which was nice, although I've seen that other gigs have had Red Mosquito (which I love). Also, their setlist tweet suggests Betterman was scratched off.

My next two gigs (health allowing) are a tad smaller

The Dickies on Sunday at the Brudenell

Goldblade at the Star and Garter in Manchester next week.

I've also booked for the Sultans of Ping F.C. in Leicester in November

I quite like the S&G. It's the kind of place that could have featured in the Sweeney (if the Sweeney had been set in Manchester.)

Had a fantastic time seeing Culture Club last night. They were supported by the B52's and Tom Bailey from the Thompson Twins opened up and did about 40 minutes himself.

But OMG there was an old woman in front of me who was live streaming the concert I think to facebook, it wasn't Periscope. She got caught half way through by the stewards but they just told her to stop. She gave them like five minutes and just continued. I was going to dob her in but I couldn't as Mrs H started to record a bit of Boy George on her camera so I just stood there and seethed.

Silly old bat even had a power brick to keep her phone charged up when she was streaming, but also spent loads of time on facebook and wikipedia looking up information on the backing singers. Fortunately she left with a few songs to go.

I don't get it, it's like ******* with your phone at at the Cinema!

Saw Liam Galagher at The Pilton Party on Friday. I've never been a fan but he was excellent. Perfect amount of swagger.
The Pilton Party is an event normally thrown after Glastonbury Festival on the grounds of Worthy Farm, for locals as a thank you for putting up with the festival.
The crowd was huge - much bigger than previous Pilton Parties, which is a shame as it's meant to be a local event. They were also WAY more rowdy than your typical Glastonbury crowd. It would almost have spoiled it, but a proper gent got near us towards the end and we had a good chat and a laugh and sing, so it was all ok.
We could have made it to the front, but stayed about 30 feet back. Dunno why but you always seem to be able to get closer to the stage from the right hand side*

*This may only be true of the PP and the John Peel tent.

I’ve just watched Giant Rooks at the Ramsbottom Music Festival and they were just as good as last year. They are a German band who had their debut EP out last year called New Estate.

Also seen Stereophonics and Bryan Adams at Manchester Arena this year.
