As in "Psycho remake" bad; takes the DRS classic, practically just swaps the male and female roles round and tries to recreate every scene.

That's 90 minutes I won't be getting back anytime soon
Well, you only have yourself to blame, but if you want to complete your course of theatrical flagellation you might as well check out:

Overboard 2018
Oceans 8
Ghostbusters 2016
What Men Want 2019
American Psycho 2

Weirdly, I am one of the minority who thought Ghostbusters 2016 was alright.

But The Hustle is something else altogether.

Much of the film follows the basic outline of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, but I don't know how anyone who's seen both films can claim that they even remotely attempted to recreate every scene. Most of the gags are completely different and many elements are changed. Heck if they had at least put some miniscule effort into being a faithful update of the last remake then there would be at least one single gag worth laughing at.

Sure, it's not an exact scene for scene remake like Psycho but then neither was Ghostbusters 2016.

However there were far more similarities here than in Ghostbusters; the jewellery con at the start, Martin/Wilson both arriving on a train ( and the con on the train ) and then by car, Martin/Wilson both play a mad sibling and then a disabled person, the super glue joke ( complete with the Navy guys being replaced by the Essex girls ), the love story angle and the only thing missing from the final scene was that it wasn't Hathaway's character putting on the accent.

Yes it's a remake so there's a certain amount of overlap and like I say, the basic outline of much of the comedy set pieces is the same, but the execution is very different. It's more of a loose remake rather than a rigid one.

Overboard 2018 really wasn't that bad! We expected it to be awful but found it perfectly watchable.
