Depends where you want it for. I have a 5 in the bedroom and a 1 in the kitchen. Don't use the 5 that often and when we do it's usually late so we don't have it loud, so thinking of swapping them around. If you want it as a main stereo the 5 will be better, but for a small room the 1 is great. What room will it be for?

Did anyone buy one of those Bluenote limited editions, btw?

Probs the living room though may also use it upstairs to replace my Bose mini. The thing that put me off about the 1 (and 3) according to whathifi is that they're mono and you'll need a pair to get stereo

No, they're stereo but you don't get any stereo width, effectively joint stereo simply because they're contained in the one unit. It was discussed a few pages back, from post 118.

You'll never get any single speaker to match the width of two speakers apart simply because the sound is coming from one point - if you put any two speakers side by side it'll sound like joint stereo.

Best thing is to go to a store and try them, see if it meets your requirements. The whole system works so well though, once you start adding speakers to rooms you can't beat being able to shift it around and play in multiple rooms, etc. I don't know anyone who's bought them and not loved them, just for the combination of quality of sound, flexibility and ability to access so many services, etc.

No worries. I love mine. There may be better high end audio out there but this does us just fine!

I got the Deezer app free for a year, as most have. I have to say, I'm quite happy to pay for it from next year onwards as well. Having at least one paid service, in addition to your music library, is essential IMO.

It seems to have been a good idea for them, to give it away free for a period, especially as the Sonos Deezer app has been massively improved. Most people will just stick with Spotify because that's the most popular, but it's by far the weakest for Sonos users.

I assume the free Deezer offer has expired. Shame.

I'm enjoying Deezer too, switched from Spotify to it and the app is much better via the Sonos.

Wish they'd have a downvote aswell as an upvote though for Flow.

Has anyone got any experience of using the playbar without the sub? Everyone seems to say you have to have both to get a good effect, but thinking pennies wise it would be best to get one and then the other later

I had one without the sub for a while, but it does make a big difference.

Bought a Note 4 recently - turns out i have a 6 month deezer subscription plan with it, so as the 1month trial ran out i've now activated that.

Works well on the Sonos - if anything Deezer search results always seem to come back first - for me it's Deezer results, then Google Play Music, then Spotify

Anyone else find the same - maybe it's just alphabetical?

We don't have a sub with out playbar and it still sounds great. We're in an apartment though so I don't have it on too loud because I'm a considerate neighbour.... although if the people below don't stop dragging furniture around at 6am every day I may buy one just to annoy them...!

The sub wouldnt annoy a neighbour - certainly when I was living in a terraced house with it, they were certain they couldnt hear bass... I had it reasonably loud. I think with its opposing speakers it tends not to travel along the house.

Just picked up a Play:5 to add to the collection from amazon.es

Use chrome to translate, pay in EUR to avoid the dodgy amazon conversion rate. Comes to around £230 delivered. White only. Will need a new figure of 8 cable, but you can buy new official ones from Sonos for a fiver..

You can use any figure of 8 lead, pound shop? Or just chop the two pin off and stick on a three pin plug?

The sub comes to about £510 with shipping, anything to be wary about if ordering from the ES site.
