Rammstein, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden

Great trio of headliners for me, hopefully no one I like will headline the second stage. I can't remember the last time I watched all the headline acts at Download.

Roll on June

Booked our tickets today. Very happy with Rammstein. Iron Maiden weren't great in 2013 but I'll watch them again if there isn't a decent second stage headliner. Black Sabbath are the one that I'm not fussed about, as I've seen them too many times and will probably see them when they tour at the end of the year (I'm expecting a last ever show in Birmingham). Like with Maiden, I'll watch if nothing else is on.

So a month to go. I'm going for the second time (2013 before). Looking forward to it, especially seeing Rammstein again.

Weather forecast is very poor. Anyway, setting off this morning and very excited about it!

I work in Donington. It's tipping it down. I feel sorry for those going. Proper torrential.

Conditions were as bad as 2012 yesterday, but it only really affected Korn for me, as I was in the tent for a lot of the time and it had stopped raining for Rammstein (who were great as always).

Driving back there in an hour or so. No way could I ever camp.

Is that not Glastonbury a few years ago?

I went 3 times, rained every time but was generally alright by the time the festival actually started. Makes a complete mess of the village which is depressing as you just end up looking at the floor the whole time to see what you're about to put your foot in

It was great yesterday for most of the day. Started raining during Skindred (who are so great live that even bad weather can't spoil them) and progressively got worse.
We left an hour into Black Sabbath. Tony, Geezer and Tommy were as good as always, but Ozzy is done. Completely out of tune for most of what we heard. It was like witnessing a car crash.

Yes, same as us, we left well before the end of Sabbath. Soaking wet and really not enjoying Sabbath at all. Ridiculous length tedious drum solo didn't help.

Sunday took 3 hours to get into the car park, complete shambles. Managed to get out ok at the end of the evening which was a big surprise. Best that could be said about the weather was it rained less than Friday or Saturday!

Favourite acts over the weekend: Rammstein (of course, despite sound problems with some sort of static noise throughout), Rival Sons, Tremonti, Nightwish and Iron Maiden.

I'd love to go to Download again but the thought of rain just puts me off. Like any festival it just ends up feeling like a chore, you can't sit down anywhere, you're always having to look where you're about to step and it just ends up miserable.

Rammstein, Korn, Skindred and Jane's Addiction all made it worthwhile for me. Disturbed were pretty great too.

A great weekend despite the weather and the first couple of days were wonderful, just a shame the weather changed on Friday. After that the main arena and village were just a sloppy mud bath.

I really enjoyed all main stage headliners however the only bands I got close for on Friday were second stage openers Raveneye and then Rammstein. I spent all afternoon sheltering under one of the big white gazebos near the food stalls. I could see the main stage and screens but sound was barely audible which was a shame as Korn were awesome.

Saturday I got on the centre barrier for Sixx:A.M. and stayed there all day and managed to do the same on Sunday starting with Halestorm. Luckily all the bands I wanted to see where on the main stage apart from Skindred who clashed with Deftones

I was dreading getting out of the car park on Sunday night but was amazed we got out so quickly. We were parked in South car park not far from the bridge and were out on the main road in under 15 minutes.

I couldn't believe how quickly we got out on Sunday. We left at the start of the final Maiden song and thought there would be a big queue. Being able to exit at the gate down by the stage made it easy. Don't recall that being there last time we went 3 years ago.
Was sure we would need pushing up the hill to the exit, but didn't. Bet many cars later did.
