X-Factor 2010

Just a heads up - this year's parade of the socially inept and vocally-challenged starts this Saturday at 7:30 on ITV1. Whilst I'm sure we all agree that it's 'not as good as it used to be'(tm) now that the auditions are held in front of a live audience and the final isn't capped by a choir of the worst auditionees, it's still the best Saturday night entertainment until they reschedule the Jeremy Kyle show.

apparently, expect to see loads of "Glee"-inspired groups (according to dermot).

looking forward to it, although we'll sky+ it to enable us to skip through all the fluff.

Wouldn't really be much different from previous years. One large-ish group almost made it onto the show.

Is it my imagination or is x-factor very early this year? Normally it finishes just before christmas and I don't remember it being on for 6 months before.

Last year mightn't have been very good but the two years previously were excellent, which is surprising for a programme that's 6/7 years old. I'm not a big fan of the AI inpsired theme weeks but I do like that they get to work with a celeb

It usually starts around the end of August but I think it is a couple of weeks early this year.

Honestly it's pretty good. Didn't have time for Pop Stars: The Rivals or Pop Idol (except to hope Michelle McManus won!) nor any of the BBC comps, but x-factor is much better than those shows.

The day camp and cruel television is banned. Until that day, I will dine on Glee and quench my thirst with finest X-Factor. The straight and the humorless can watch ******* Grandstand.

With 5% less Basher Cole this year presumably, since she was "at death's door" due to "malaria" for a few minutes.

Not really early. Maybe a week, tops. But you've got a load of guff to start with for a couple of months before the proper show starts.

Working back from the Finale being on Dec 11th[Xmas No.1 Sunday is 19th of December] gives the first Live week as being 9th of October.

Then before that you've got the X-Factor equivalent of AI's Hollywood week which I can't remember, then the judges houses week[Shows on Sat/Sun] and the show where they all go home to their parents/friends to tell them they've made it onto the show.

So take out all that, and you've only got 4 weeks of Auditions, which sounds about right?

Yes it does seem early but I agree on your calculations there, it must be about right. In fact just checked Wikipedia and that says Series 6 started 22 Aug 09 and Series 5 started 16 Aug 08. So it is right. Countdown to Christmas has begun!!!

Think she was one of the guest judges while Basher had her "malaria".

Because she has a conviction for racially aggravated assault on some cleaner in a nightclub toilet when she was in Girls Aloud!
