Anyone ever read this fantastic series of 8 books?

Its an epic story set in a future where China rules the Earth and follows their struggle to retain power agaisnt various factions that want more freedom. Has a plethora of engrossing characters and strong Fantasy/Scifi theme running alongside all the political goings on.

Loads of diabolical characters and some shocking scenes, nobody is ever safe from being killed off.

Reminds me very much of the "Song of Ice and Fire Series" infact

Have read the series several times but nobody I have met has ever heard of it

Turns out that the entire set has now been revised and is going to be republished next year but now set over 20 books including 2 prequels and a revised ending

I'll probably buy the whole lot just to expereince it all again though

Apparently it was always meant to be set over 9 books but publisher pressure made him have to combine the last 2 books into one.

He now has the chance to do this with the reissue and add back in the bits that were left out.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Currently reading through the first prequel and its superb, set a few years ahead of now and really draws you in.

Second prequel is also awaiting me once I'm done.

Hopefully these books will find a new audience as they deserve to.

One of the best sets of books ever!!! For some reason they became very collectable and i managed to sell 3 of the paper backs for over £70 each!! Have them on ebook now.

Didn't know there were prequels!! that is exciting.

I have to wait two years to get past prequels and then main start, The Middle Kingdom.

Son of Heaven in 2010 then Daylight on Iron Mountain in 2011 then Middle Kingdom on August 2012... I am bit annoyed that the publishers are splitting the orignal volumes into two and total volumes would be 20 and slow initial publishing schedule. Apparently they will accelerate to couple of books (5? 6?) in following years.

Yes, I saw that they are splitting it into 20 books!!! It is an epic read though so I think I'll hold off for now and wait till they are all out.

Can't understand why it's going to take them so long to release given that they are already written.

Wait for them to be all released? that would be 2015? 2016? I recall somwhere ! Nah, just read them as they get released. Can you drop a load of quids for entire 20 volumes one go? Never mind reading all of them at one go!

I'd rather read at my pace (I think I could read 20 books quicker that the 4 year release span). I hate waiting for a book to be released as part of a series. I'm just weird like that!

Well I hope you are not reading A Song of Ice and Fire books

No it's not weird, some readers are fed up waiting for the next novel in series, and they have adopted a policy to wait until all books are out.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who loves them!

Interesting to hear you sold the paperbacks for so much, I have them all up in the loft and would happily drag them down for £70 each!!
