Ellroy's latest is out

spotted by accident yesterday, that Ellroy's third part of his Underworld USA trilogy is now out - it's called 'Blood's A Rover'

just turned up from Amazon - can't wait to get started on it - not expecting it to be as good as American Tabloid, but no doubt will be a rivetting read

Excellent! I've been waiting on this for what seems like forever. If it's half as good as the previous two, it'll be rivetting.

I loved American Tabloid, probably my favourite Elroy novel, but I struggled with The Cold Six Thousand & thought it was a mess, so much so, it's put me off attempting this new novel.

The Cold Six thousand was a tough read alright.

The wording was almost too staccato like in places.

I still liked it though.

Ill agree with Mr G above though. American Tabloid is fabulius and that and The Big Nowhere are my joint fave Ellroy books.

this article from last week's Guardian indicates that the writing is more in line with the style of American Tabloid

Totally agree - I've loved every Ellroy book but Cold 6000 was a slog from start to the 20th page I gave up on.

Prob is won't it be confusing to read this without reading Cold 6000?

Cold 600 is much better second time around. It didnt help I read it before American Tabloid, but then went back and started again and loved them both.

I believe he had a

but it's been a good few years since I read it last.

I must say that I adored Cold 6k and it ranks up there as one of my favourite books ever!

Read this on holiday - absolutely brilliant - a fine and fitting close to the end of the trilogy. Unputdownable.

Seemed to have a huge opinion of himself, very conceited. This has actually put me off reading more of his work.
