Charlaine Harris - The Sookie Stackhouse books.

True Blood Book 1

Are the books any good? I notice that the character of Tara isn't even in the books so is the TV show a lot different? Also do events in the first book above cover the first season?

Tara not in the books... ?

She's my favourite character in the tv show.

GPR79 just finished all of the books recently, so will direct him over here Bish.

Wife is moving onto these books as soon as she is finished the Twilight ones. Was going to grab the lot off mr GPR, but wife wants to get the first book only to see if she will like them.

Cheers.

Well according to one review on the link above she's not in the first book. It also says Laffayette barely gets a mention, both great characters IMO.

I was going to buy the first book, but the write up on the back made it sound like a sappy teenage angsty drama...so I was surprised to see how racey the TV show was.

I am reconsidering getting the book now, especially if it is different to the TV show!

I found out there is no sex or boobies & are more like the tame Twilight series, so obviously I lost all interest in reading the novels.

AFIK (have the books havnt read them) Laffayette is in them but his story is different.

Book one is close to series 1 but they divert quite a bit after.

not as much sex in them either...
