Christ that’s a lot. Re the nfl thing, was surprised that sky held their hands up and offered something straight away. Normally have to complain first. etc.

Well it's gone up £1.50 to £11.50 so it's still not bad value. However I only use it for Sky+ as I also have NOW TV

I think there was a £30 entertainment / HD / movies package kicking around over the weekend. Think I saw it on Digital Spy.

This is how they keep most people I guess, I told my mate he was paying a fortune over the odds for the full package, didn't dare risk not having the footy for one minute in case when he threatened to quit they'd pull his service and refuse to have him back

Its 31 days cancellation period.. Sky love people like this as they always know they'll pay no matter what the cost is..

Told him this, told him I was paying next to nothing. It's a common strategy, you find out your parents are paying £60 a month for BT broadband and renting a phone from them for £5 a month.

Do they still do the 60% off deal if you have the balls to cancel and hold out?

They're currently doing telly and broadband for £40 for 18 months. I first saw it on an advert and thought it was available for existing customers but the website suggested maybe not. Might have to actually speak to them.

Noticed my Sky bill had jumped back up to £58 from £38.75 this month as my 50% discount runs out on the 6th May. Then the month after that it was back up to the full £73.50!

Just rang them and retentions did me a deal to remove boxsets (just the on demand stuff that I rarely watch) and go back to the basic entertainment package and keep Sports. Works out at exactly £38 p/m which is slightly less than I was paying before! Hurrah.

That's an 18 month deal too as that's all they deal in now. He told me they don't do the % discounts any more. So if I'd have cancelled I wouldn't get 50% offers as they don't exist any more. Obviously Sky trying to close that loophole of people cancelling then getting a large % off offer straight away, assuming he wasn't just feeding me BS! All you'd get is the equivalent of a new customer offer instead, which he said would be about £50 p/m in my case.

So now I get:

Basic Entertainment Pack for £21 (instead of £39.50 with boxsets)
Sky Sports (full lot) for £15 (instead of £28)
Sports in HD for £2 (instead of £6)
Sky TV in HD for £1 (instead of £5)

Happy with that for 18 months!

The Official Sky HD Thread and FAQ

Looking at how they’ve rejigged all the channel numbers, most of it’s pretty good.

I understand why they’ve moved the Docs as I rarely get up to the 500’s, the SD channels have mostly been moved way up to the 800’s, I just wish they’d work out a way to show the non-regional parts of BBC/ITV/C4 on the Main channel in HD and then switch to SD when they have the local news/adverts etc, it can’t be that hard.

What I don’t understand is the 130-190’s as they’ve completely ****** them up. All the C4/C5 channels were grouped together, not anymore, as for the rest.... oh boy what a mess.

Not having BBC One, ITV and Channel 4 HD channkes at rhe top is still annoying.

And now I have to remember the new numbers for ITV and 4.
